August 27- Day One Roma!

August 27

Yesterday my flight arrived at 9:15 and they shuttled us (API students) to our orientation hotel, World Hotel Ripa Roma. Upon arrival a few of us explored the neighborhood, Trastevere!

Instead of giving us room keys... they gave everyone a card... and when you get to the hotel, you show them the card to get your key.

I had my first latte! (WITH SKIM MILK). Then I went out to lunch with some of my new friends. Limoncello and an entire pizza to myself!!

For dinner API took us to an adorable restaurant in the heart of Trastevere! Grazie e Graziella!!

I am SO happy to be here. Everything is beautiful... The buildings, the people, even the words. I LOVE IT and cannot stop talking about how much I LOVE IT.

Today we moved into our apartment and are already drinking wine together! API set up a "survival tour" of Trastevere, and the neighborhood is sooo cute! My roommates are all super sweet and we are going out to dinner together then going out!

Photos: Embarking on the adventure of a lifetime! August 25

August 25: 5:01 PM

I am currently sitting in the airport (JFK) awaiting for the call to board my plane. I am overly excited and incredibaly grateful. Saying goodbye to my family was hard, but I am used to being away from home, and I know that they are proud of me!

7:26 Pm

It is 1:26 am tomorrow in Rome and I am currently soaring over the Atlantic Ocean. ~Chasing the sun~ OR runnning from it? I don't know how that works. I started reading Eat Pray Love and I LOVE it. It reinforces my desire to travel, to experience, to live, to explore. I want to see the world, I want to understand the world, I want to understand how people live in the world. As I embark on this journey to a foreign country with little knowldge of the tradition, culture, or language I am overly excited but slightly terrified.
*It is currently 70 degrees in Rome and my ETA is 9:25 AM Rome time!*

La Bella Vita

My name is Lizzy Beyer, and I am a student at the College of Charleston. I have embarked on the adventure of a lifetime and am spending four months studying abroad at an American University in Rome, Italy. I am so incredibly lucky for this experience and have been (of course) making the most of it. Taking up every opportunity thrown in my direction whether it be cliff jumping, helping out my new community or indulging in unique local cuisine. We have one life and can choose to live it however we want. I choose to live my life positively. To radiate positivity. To make the best and most of every given situation. I choose LA BELLA VITA… The beautiful life. When it’s all said and done I want my life to be a bountiful abundance of perfect days. I want to fall in love with cities and cultures that take your breath away. I want to exchange experiences with anyone willing to listen. I have a passion for adventure, but at the same time I have truly learned how to be a smart traveler, therefore I would be a perfect candidate for this position.
