Bill's Big Trip "Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for. Imagine all the people living life in peace. Imagine all the people sharing all the world. I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live as one." John Lennon

Malawi

MALAWI | Sunday, 14 September 2014 | Views [291]

I've been in Malawi for about a week. Nice scenery, kind but poor people. I heard the life expectancy is 43. Aids and safe child birth problems are big concerns. I flew for the first time in Africa from Harare Zimbabwe to Lilongwe Malawi. Flew Malalian Airways, they have been in business about 7 months. Good flight and a nice break from the bus. Speaking of the bus, Ive had some memorable bus trips this past week. 18 people in a p/u truck, 19 people in a van and a  full size bus that was so crowded I had to stand in the packed  isle for 6.5 hours. At least they got me to where I wanted to go.I have spent most of my time on the shores of Lake Malawi at Senga Bay and Nkhata Bay.(see pictures) I'm off to Tanzania tonight, hope to do one or two more safaris.

About lipowcan8

A quick recap. I visited 19 countries in 212 days, traveled 46,000 miles by air,15,000 miles by land and spent about $25,000. My feet got beat up a few times and I twisted my ankle a couple of times. No plane, train, car, bus, tuk tuk or taxi mishaps, not even a fender bender. I wasn't threatened or harassed and amazingly enough I didn't lose anything. It's hard to believe seven months have passed. As I said in my first entry.....a wonderful way to celebrate 60 years of living. It sure was!
