Photos: My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

the pictures that i submit have been taken 14 years ago with an old canon that i got from my dad. they are only pictures of my original ones, so quality wise its kind of a nightmare, anyway when i took the pictures i had no clue about cameras at all at this time.i just pressed the button whenever i found a worthy image. it was a lot of fun, and these pictures where the outcome.i was on safari with my parents and i really enjoyed the culture and scenery that afrika had to offer. its a land full of wonders and adventures. colors, impressions, you have everything you need. and you sometimes don t even know where to start afrika brought me back to the roots of life and nature.fascinating in its colors and wildlife its a must for every photographer. it just captures you. its an experience you will never forget once you tough this piece of land. i have tried my best to bring this across in my pictures. choosing wildlife as a main subject. but i know today i would do it completely different. i have grown a lot as an artist and got a deeper understanding of whats worth being shared. i look for the scene behind the scene telling stories the way i see them. whether its a good or bad one. its the meaning behind the picture that makes you feel and connect . being a photographer has been a life long dream and if i had the chance to get back to afrika again and connect with it. i would be so happy. till then i am just a simple photographer and triathlete working my way up expressing my feelings and letting people see the world and its wonders thru my eyes. with this scholarship i follow my Heart, its an opportunity i wanna take, cause its would be worth a story being told not only to me also to others. thanks national geographic for this opportunity.

photography

the pictures i submit have been taken 14 years ago with an old canon, no digital, i had no knowledge about cameras at all at this time. i was 17 and still had no idea about what i would wanna do in my life. i briefly thought bout becoming a photographer, since i thought it would be nice to look at pictures later in life and remembering feelings and thoughts that one had when the pictures were taken, but my dad told me not to go for it,cause i would not have talent and it would be a waste, and since i always did what he told me , i never went for photography except during this trip/. my dad gave me the camera, cause it did not mean anything to him and i started shooting. the images are more or less a picture of a picture since i dont have them in original anymore. i only had a copy in my design portfolio and i took a picture of the copy -that's why the quality is not really the best.
but all in all i am proud of them . feel free to check them out , and i hope u like them as much as i do. thanks very much

i did not have a good camera cause i was always too busy with life itself and training as for me taking a good valuable camera with me. but sure enough , most times during training, and especially on my long bike rides or runs in the early morning or at night . i would see all these beautiful images and the only pictures i take were in my mind . since these days i regret not having bought a camera all these years to capture the beautiful moments that our world has in store for us. for me pictures are more the thousand words. they capture emotions , feelings and silence in them. pictures let me dream , feel react in different ways they are my silent movie. i love pictures and collect postcards where ever i go ( cause like i sad till a few days ago i did not even had a good camera) pictures of animals and nature help me to understand this world and it secrets and i strongly believe they are necessary to give the people who live in this world an understanding of whats going on in this world. weather its good or bad , a picture of death, war or a picture of happiness. pictures need to be taken and shared for giving us the information on whats really going on.
a picture is a story , a feeling , a word , a memory . its the story behind the story , the script to the movie and so much more.
being a secret photographer is what i do, becoming a photographer in real is a dream come true. applying for this scholarship with a chance of learning what i love my biggest dream.

Photos: afrika back in the days

Undoubtedly, its the second try in my life to pursue Photography that had left me for quite a while. How life goes mysteries ways. i had once one dream , to become a photographer i was 17, i got a camera form my dad, i started shooting and said i want to do this. i even applied to get a trade work job as a photographer and got accepted,
but like i said life and its ways. i ended up listening to every one but myself and went away form the trade job and the artistic life to being a crazy sports machine doing triathlon world championships, cross triathlons, half ironmans and so on. and of course i studied sport and of course i wasnt happy. i mean i am an artist by heart how can u truely be happy if u deny whats in you.
so i tried to find a way to incorporate my art in my lifestyle. and since i studied sport i decided to go for journalism and photography, i even started to design my own recycling fashion line, and started singing, i also went for freediving just to understand the ocean the animals that live there and myself better and just cause i thought i better try everything now what i once wanted to experience/ and i know today that after living so many years to what people expect to see in me that i have to start now to make changes in order to live the life that i dream to live. it really took me so long to realize that i never lived up to my potential nor lived what i really wanted to do . so when it just recently found that camera online,i decided to buy it and use it as an opportunity to apply for this scholarship to experience with Jason what it means to be happy. and i say happy cause i dont think there is anything more worth in this world to experience than being with nature and the animals that live on this planet and being a photographer. photography is telling a story its a journey and an adventure itself . its my way of expressing my feelings and bringing it across . its my way of letting people see the world and its wonders thru my eyes.
its my journey and my life experiences that i can share with others . and i t makes me proud to let people see the real world, to let them see the scene behind the scene. it might not be sometimes a beautiful picture but a picture will always tell the truth, my truth.
with this scholarship i follow my Heart, its an opportunity that i try to take. it will be something that i can always look back to, something that will stay with me forever , cause its a story worth being told. not only to me also to others.
