Photos: My Scholarship entry - Van Diemen's Land

Hi, my name is Lindsey Garside, I’m 26 years old and I’m from Melbourne. I would love the opportunity to learn and develop my photography skills with Jason Edwards and his team. I think the Amazon would be an amazing experience and a really great challenge! I’m outgoing, friendly, hard working and willing to learn. I’m a qualified dental nurse and assistant manager at the clinic, where I have worked for the past 8 years. I have also completed my diploma in management. I have had the opportunity to explore the Victorian high country and Tasmania by 4wd with a good old swag. My passion for photography started when I was young as I was always borrowing my mum’s camera, a Canon 350d. I bought my first digital SLR camera about two years ago and I have been enjoying learning to use it ever since! I have recently joined a camera club and have done a couple of portrait workshops which have been a great experience. My other hobbies growing up have been horse riding, netball, swimming and skiing. My current goals are to travel, further my experience in photography and hopefully work in the industry one day.

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Lindsey Garside, I’m 24 years old and I live in Melbourne. I am a qualified dental nurse and have recently become assistant manager where I have worked for 7 years. I’m completing a business management diploma. Growing up I loved the outdoors and life on the family farm. My hobbies where swimming, horse riding. My Mum is a photography enthusiast and I have grown up borrowing her camera and developed a passion for photography. In recent years I have also taken up skiing, spent many weekends four wheel driving and exploring Victoria’s high country. Twelve months ago I bought my first digital SLR camera and I have been enjoying exploring the creative side to photography. I believe in real images, i love that they show people real places they may never get to see or know about. I think photography is a very powerful tool, it’s a real skill and talent. In the future I want travel and further my learning in photography and work in the industry. I think this would be an unforgettable spectacular once in a life time experience, it would be a great challenge and I am really keen to learn and develop on my skills. The start of an amazing journey for me!
