My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Lachlan Waterhouse and I am a 19 year old amateur photographer from Fremantle, Western Australia. I shoot predominantly 35mm images, using a variety of cameras.

On November 17th, 2011, two days after completing my last high school exam, I flew to Europe for a month of solo travelling. I was 17 at the time and this trip opened my eyes to the wonders of travel and being able to document other countries and cultures.

Since this first trip to Europe, I've had the opportunity to visit New York and return to Europe, this time for a period of 4 months.

During Nov 17th 2011 and Jan 2013, I've been lucky enough to have some of my images published in various publications, including a 6 page spread in Hero, a British fashion/lifestyle magazine. I have also been fortunate to be included in various exhibitions as well as hosting my own exhibition, with the money raised going towards my airfare back to Europe.

I see myself as a hard working, adventurous and passionate individual, with a strong desire to learn and benefit from this scholarship and the mentorship of Jason Edwards. This opportunity would play a huge part in helping me achieve my goal of becoming a photojournalist.
