Summer Hurricane

Thinking back, I suppose it all stared when I got my first camera. It was nothing more than a disposable film camera but I loved that little camera like it was made of gold. Of course, when I got back the first roll of developed film the photos were all either blurry or badly lit, but I was young and loved them anyway. I had this wonderful feeling of knowing that I had captured this moment in time that had long passed, that everyone else had forgotten, but I would always remember it. No matter how short or insignificant that moment was, at least it would live on in this small way.

Years later and like so many others I'm still using photography to capture the world around me. I'm in love with people and the stories they hold, their beliefs and cultures, everything that makes them who they are. I have always dreamed of traveling the world and recording the stories of the people around me. Winning the scholarship would give me the opportunity to improve my photography and get one step closer to my dream.
