It is how I find peace and recharge. My photography developed as a way to capture those moments of solitude and squirrel them away. Over time, I began looking for moments in other settings, in less secluded places and even crowded places, where my camera gave me a sense of being both a part of the action and apart from it. I became interested in the history of photography and various techniques of capturing my visual experiences. The more I learn, the more elusive the art & science of photography are to me. Because I am interested in photography’s history, I decided to broaden my scope to black and white film. The tangible, sometimes tedious process of measuring, mixing, developing, printing, cleaning, storing, & the magical quality of watching the image gradually appear in a bath of chemicals—it slows everything down. My foray into film has changed my rapid-fire approach that is so easy and habitual to my digital photography. It has me ponder, wait as I look through the lens.
