My Scholarship entry - 1,000 Jordanian Nights
I love photography, but I also have a lot to learn. I am self taught but I feel in order to achieve were I want to be in photography I will need to find someone to teach me. I am nearly fearless when it comes to taking risks in order to get a desired shot. Very rarely am I more proud of myself then when I have achieved the sort of emotion I want to in a shot and will work very hard fir that. I grew up in the mountains of Utah and my first real experience photographing was taking pictures of a wildfire that caused the evacuation of my family from our home. After the fire the devastation brought a strange new beauty to the mountain and I photographed that to try and capture the eire emptiness that had encased the mountain. From there I began to do other projects of both self expression and capturing other cultures. I love traveling and capturing the many people and cultures I meet. I have found the best way to do this is through photography. I feel Photography not only shows other cultures but humanizes them. I feel that by being given the opportunity to have this scholarship I could help people have a better understanding of our amazing, colourful and even hurt world.
