My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Trying to combine my old and present love of hiking with my new love for photography. I have been hiking for many years now and have always been somewhat disappointed that my pictures never did the scenery justice. I bought myself an entry level camera (Nikon 3100) and have read instruction books, watched online tutorials, browsed forums and talked to other amateur photographers on the use of the camera. I never realized it is such hard work and takes so much practise to attain the shots that I was envisioning in my head! I fully realize that the shots that I took are not "magazine/book" worthy, but I am very proud of them. Especially since I know I can only improve even more.

I like to try and capture my scenery shots in a way that I am seeing it at that moment. When I look back at my pictures I want to put myself back into that moment.
