During my program, I had a chance to complete a one-month internship at a publication and chose to pursue an internship in Shanghai, China. I couldn't have fathomed how this trip would change my life. I chose to study photojournalism because I feel called to bring back stories that most of the world might never get to see: stories of happiness or tragedy, of mysterious cultures, beautiful places and fascinating traditions. From my trip, I discovered that I still have much to learn about photography, and much of it has little to do with technical aspects. What makes a truly great travel photograph is knowledge of a place, the crafting of a relationship with people and their cultures, and a sense of intimacy between photographer and subject. These are things I believe I could learn from this experience, and I see them as key pieces of the foundation in a travel photography career. I'm a hard worker and I've dedicated my life to making a career in photography.
