Photos: My Scholarship entry - Jungle Stories

Hey Team,

I am a film maker with 10 years experience and aspiring photographer focussing on shooting adventures and travel. My recent adventure as a photographer entailed climbing Kilimanjaro in Africa and paragliding from the top of it. This has only been done by a hand full of people in the world.

My reference work is a self funded work photographing and filming the native tribes of the Mentawaii Islands in Indonesia. The focus was set on their spirituality and unity with the jungle.

The chance to work with a photographer from National Geographic means a lot to me - in connecting me with the right kind of people on the pathway of fulfilling my aspirations to work as a photographer for NG. I feel that I would not only bring expertise as an assistant and knowledge about the dynamics in the jungle to the team, but also proving myself to be a valuable asset as an assistant for the team in the future.

I would be looking forward to support you on this adventure.

All the Best
Franziska

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

When you chose to follow who you are, don’t look for the path well trodden - choose to walk the path that does not exist. –(Amir Zehi)

My vivid mind is always spinning ideas, front pages and color grades. I am constantly looking for magic to touch my pictures, for the realignment of light to truly capture life’s purity. When I shoot, I feel that I am exactly in the right space and the right time. My mind is clear and synced to my work.

Nation Geographic had a huge impact on my worldview through sharp reportages and impactful images. Through National Geographic, I am inspired to tell unique stories that matter and to translate the rawness of human life and nature into images.

The World Nomads Travel Photography Scholarship is the perfect mentoring program for me, as it would allow me to assist other brilliant and impassioned photographers that choose to make a living through photographs.

I believe magic exists. It lies within the world and is available to me in every moment. Through photography I am able to empower myself to inspire, educate, contradict or simply open people’s eyes. Behind our visible reality lies another truth.
