My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Johnson Boey, an international student studying in Perth as future Podiatrist. Ever since I came to Australia for study, I have been very much interested the unique culture that Australia has. Coming from an Asian country (Singapore), it has been a wonderful experience to be living with the local Australian family to learn the culture and language. Just one more year to go before I leave this country for work, there is still so much to grasp the understanding of this wonderful country that I called my second "home". Since young, I have been in love with photography but never had the opportunity to explore because of my family's limited financial capacity to buy DSLR. However, it was only recently that I managed to save up to buy a basic DSLR to carry on this passion to a new level. Since then, I have been more than in love in photography than before. I love to tell and the my story and experience through the camera lens. With this competition, I really hope that I can have an opportunity to learn from a mentor about photography so that I can share my experience of the immense cultural diversity of this world without the need to be there physically through my lens.

Being known as one of the world's most isolated city in the world, Perth has long been attributed with insipid or dull city. Initially I had this kind of feeling but after 3 years of living in this city, I have discovered the hidden treasure of natures at work in this city. I chose Frementle, the old fishing port as my choice of pictures to upload. The old fishing port may not be revelant in today's but it will tells the history of the city and how the city has developed since then.
