My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Water. I chose this topic cause it's probably one of the most important thing we need and it may brings more geopolitics troubles later. My dad worked to bring water to people during forty years. He taught me how precious and wealthy water is. I took these pictures during my trips around different countries like Iran, India, Brazil. Very different but such big countries and all so magnificient. What I've seen through my travels is the innocence and the sacred.

For example, along my trips in Middle-east and India, the religious and sacred places in Esphahan in Iran (1) and Pushkar in India (2) have pools in the middle of their square. It symbolizes for me, peace and life. Sometimes, children (3) play inside. It symbolizes for me, carelessness and happiness. During all our life we learn how to switch from "rough waters" to "calm waters" and we all should pass it to understand.

So I found in National Geographic an efficient teacher. That's why I want to learn more at the side of NG, and to keep working on teaching how to preserve and to protect wildlifes (4) on showing the beauty of nature and I know children often pay attention to pictures. It's not only a passion, it's also a duty. A duty to remember what we have done and what we can do to save as much a possible our environnement.

This duty is sometimes dangerous. But one of my aptitude: I'm not scared to go in wild and dangerous areas and alone (I was in the border of Pakistan and India when floods happened in August 2010). I like to be concerned, right in the place, right in the moment. I'm totally aware and interested about what is going on around a place I'm visiting.

So I would like to thank NG and the other compagnies for this opportunity not only for a prize but to learn, to share and to give our best.
