The following is an extremely condensed version i why i am applying. <br/><br/>I have always been creative and artistic in my endeavours. This year marked the passing of a dear family member. My grandmother. She was a very well travelled individual and always wanted me to travel. As i result of this i have found a new passion. <br/><br/>This year i bought a DSLR and embarked on an amazing adventure around the world. I have fallen in love with photography and the idea of capturing the essence of a place. Of course the "essence" of a place is only relative to the perspective of the person experiencing it but i believe there are certain images that can transcend this and convey a story that is captivating no matter who the viewer is. There are images that even when no context is given, can evoke interest and emotion. I want to search for the images and hopefully inspire others to see what the world really has to offer. <br/><br/>I believe that my photography skills need to improve but my keen interest in travel, society and culture is what makes me an appropriate candidate for this competition.
