Singapore

Singapore itself I don't feel has too much to offer
as far as specific sites to see but experiencing the culture is interesting enough. The weather is very
humid and hot and no one sells sun tan lotion. I found some SPF 50
today though. Different areas of the city have very different feels. My
old hostel was near little india and it was pretty ghetto and
uncomfortable. The hostel I got now is wayyyy better. And the
neighborhoods nicer. The clubbing/bar area is big and right on the
river. Though there are bars everywhere. A lot of Karaoke bars. The
restaraunts scam you by the river but you can get really cheap meals in
the neighborhoods. You can get some good food for like $3 Singaporean
which is like $1.80 USD. The restaraunt's by the river bombard you with
offers like 30% off and first drinks free and then they charge you for
the larger plates when you order the small and they have snacks laid
out on the table and if you eat them they charge you but they don't
tell you. They even make you pay for the wet napkin wipes that they
leave on the table for you. They make it look complimentary but then
they charge you. Ive met some cool people here. A muslim from Malaysia and a couple Austrians. I've also seen a lot of creepy guys like a guy on the beach wearing dressy clothes staring at pre-teen girls on the beach with his hands in his pockets. He wasn't trying to hide it either. The beaches aren't very nice here.
Theres an island called Sentosa where the best beach is supposed to be
but its like a resort for kids and everything is plastic and fake. The
beach near my new hostel you can camp at and it has a boardwalk type
of thing. You can swim but there aren't waves. Also I noticed when
flying in that Singapore is surrounded by tons of large ships. Any
beach you go to you'll see like 100 ships floating around. The shopping
here is crazy. Its a little cheaper than home and they have a million
of everything. You can get lost in the shopping center's. They also have yard sale style markets that I looked through. I bought a Rolex for 10 Singaporean dollars. My 2 Euro calculator watch I feel may be on its last days. Alex arrives tomorrow morning back from San Francisco. Not sure what were going to do for the New Year but there are plenty of options. Happy New Years Everyone.
