Leaving For Pokhara

I cannot believe it is already almost the middle of February. I am still thinking it is way in the beginning and I still have time. It is time to leave, however. I absolutely feel like I have no more energy left to devote to the orphanage. If there is something fundamental that I can change or help change, I would gladly stay but there is very little for me to do. We are all just waiting to see what happens. There is a best case scenario, but how long will it take to just conclude the issue?

I am picking up my computer today and hopefully they figured out what is wrong with it; the internal charger part was damaged by a liquid I don't remember spilling. It's like 70$, which I am willing to pay if it is fixed. I also came to take a shower because there is no running water.

Tomorrow will be my last day and I am leaving Sunday morning. Either I catch a bus then or on Monday early morning. I don't know if I would like another shower or not, ha, before I go on a bus for 6-8 hours. Apparently, these buses are not safe, hahaha, nice.

I almost burst into tears today when I saw this sad looking dog limping across a busy road. It was in the middle between two lanes of traffic and it looked so sad. I think one of his legs were broken. Poor puppy. Whenever I see a pitiful looking dog here wandering around by itself, I just want to sob. I helped it across the street and we went our separate ways. It's funny, I am not as traumatized when I see street children but dogs, forget it.

The kids have a new volunteer from London and I am so glad. He is patient, very positive and nice. He is on his way to Thailand to teach English for a good salary. That sounds like such an awesome idea. I didn't know English teachers are in demand in Thailand. I thought that's a very competitive scene, graduate degrees and all.

I don't want to stay here in Nepal but I don't want to go back to the US either. I am glad I am finally meeting more English-speaking people. The first few weeks here was quite lonely.

I feel guilty about leaving but I will be back before I leave the US and I will make sure to help them as much as I can before my flight.

The Pro and Con of Volunteers

I had a hearty breakfast at the New Orleans Café all the while wishing my laptop was working or if I was smart enough, should have gotten it fixed back in NY instead of running around in Nepal trying to find someone who is qualified enough to know what is wrong with it, let alone how to fix it. We listened to Pierce The Veil while smoking weed and all I thought about was how much I missed that boy. I am listening to it right now and it goes down very smoothly, like my papaya lassi but with deliciously sharp buds of passion.

I really enjoy reading other people's journal entries and also, books about journalists and NGO founders and volunteers. I like reading about their step-to-step physical, mental and emotional processes and how they deal with mistakes, setbacks, depression. I prefer to study and observe before I plunge into something. It is my fear that I am doing it wrong, wasting money and time, and causing more harm than good. Well, this is the very beginning of the learning stage for me. I am so glad C is here because I have been asking him tons of questions. Questions I have asked several people who gives me either different stories or no stories. And in return, C gives me much more information that I had asked for, in good and bad ways. But truth is always good. I was horrified; I am horrified and trying not to see it all in black and white. People are selfish, people are businessmen.

I have slept like a baby since I have been here except for the last two nights. It could be the ongoing conversations in my head, my loose predictions of the future, etc, or my increased intake of caffeine. It's probably both. Caffeine is probably what's been causing me vivid night dreams, probably, wait no…hmm.

I raised my voice for the first time last night when the children kept pestering me to get them a DVD. The sadness and anger has been bubbling in me for several occasions now. The thing that set me off was that they had no respect for my No. I got tired of thinking they think I am their personal, magical, foreign ATM. There are some kids who are little and I don't doubt their sincerity, not even one bit. But the older ones, esp. the boys, they are hard to say.

Which brings me to my next point; the continuing parade of volunteers who only stays a few weeks and brings them all kinds of presents is not good for them. Volunteers need to be told on what to do and what not to do. I was given no instructions and while I have never been a structured, rigid person…this lack of instructions is damaging the kids. It's also hard for volunteers to do anything substantial. There is giving love and affection, but just as when you first get a dog home (and I learned this the hard way), structure and discipline is just as important, along with love and affection. While volunteers can easily give love and affection, discipline and structure is harder. They have very little discipline, except for smacks when they are obviously and physically misbehaving. But what about teaching them manners, basic manners. Volunteers are not ATMs. I did not do them any good giving them things when I haven't also given out structure and discipline. But who am I to discipline and teach the kids? I am about to leave, anything I do will be forgotten, a waste of time.

Well…if volunteers are given instructions to do both, to love and to teach, then each volunteer will be seen as more of a parent. A parent is what they need the most. Then the kids will know to always respect, not just request endlessly about this and that. And it is unfortunate that this can't be a permanent thing, the loving and the teaching. Consistency is also so important. Maybe it is better than nothing. Yes, it is better than nothing, but changes need to be made.

But…who is going to be in charge of this? I am leaving very soon.

I am itching to get out of Kathmandu Valley. My snot is always black. I am tired of being here. I need the beauty that Nepal promises, vast, natural beauty of a lake reflecting the mountains. And also, another volunteer learning opportunity.

This disorganization with photos and writing is terrible. The internet is so slow here and the keyboards cranky that I can't edit anything; can barely put the first drafts down. When it comes to writing, I am a perfectionist and I linger. Anyway. Moving on.

I am sitting in an empty Internet Café in town freezing. I went to Nagarkot with one of the orphanage's fund-ers in his car. I found the landscape along the way extremely interesting. I loved looking at the people carrying on with their daily routines, the adults sitting outside their shops, the kids running around and the stray dogs roaming and sniffing each other. We circled our way up a decent-sized mountain with views of vast green fields, trees and all these houses built on the ridges. Some houses were big and modern; some were shacks and some others were really medieval looking structures.

Before we got to the mountain though, we had to drive down a highway with city slums on both sides going on and on into the horizon. That wasn't awesome, but for some people, apparently the city slums are better than remote villages up in mountains. The buildings were three or four stories high, really old and worn and gray. The air was clogged, full of dust and the noise and presence of cars, people and motorcycles everywhere, in all directions. The slums seriously stretched on indefinitely. The most industrial area I have seen so far with factories and warehouses.

The morning we drove back down, I saw these lone kids standing by the ridge in their neat, navy blue school uniforms waiting for the bus to pick them up. It was so cute and touching. They were totally alone, by themselves, by the side of a medium-sized mountain looking so vulnerable, waiting to be picked up for their education. By the way, the mountain air was fantastic; so full and fresh, like downing a slim glass of chilled water. The hotel sucked, especially for 1500 Rupees, and it was without a decent view. The horizon was extremely cloudy/foggy that day and the next morning for some reason so the sole motive of going up to Nagarkot was lost. But it was nice seeing the changing landscapes and the lifestyles of people who lived in houses built on the edge of mountain ridges. We also passed along the edge of Bhaktapur. It didn’t look as enchanting as my Lonely Planet claims, but maybe that was too far out of the center of tourism. I’d like to go back at some point, yes, to check it out.

I got the kids chocolate cereal ‘Chocos’ and heated up some powder-milk yesterday. It was a huge hit but the last few kids didn't get enough. Next time I would have to get two boxes of cereal to sufficiently feed them. Sometimes these kids don't remember to say thank you and they bicker a lot over stuff, actually, over everything and anything. It drives me crazy when they bicker constantly. I suppose that's normal for kids. Sometimes one would be sitting on my lap and then, start yelling at the top of his/her voice at someone else, making my ear cry. One of my favorites, Mindul, is actually one of the loudest, but they all have full capability to be the loudest.

I can't believe it is February already. This cafe is extremely fucking cold. I have more to say; but my fingers are frozen.

I am getting ready to go to Pokhara for 2-3 weeks. I am thinking about doing the Annapurna Circuit Trek also, but first I need to do some walking around here and get some practice. I am seriously out of shape. I don’t know how one could gain weight while staying with a group of orphans but that is exactly what is happening to me. It’s either the dal bhat or Thamel tourist food, most likely the latter. In any case, this shouldn’t be happening and I need to get off my butt and do some trekking.

I am now in Thamel with much faster Internet (and for the first time since I have arrived in Nepal, editing with Microsoft Word and it feels like eating a hearty meal after fasting, okay, I am getting carried away), after having a good lunch at the K-Too Beer and Steakhouse. I am listening to Robyn's Dancing On My Own with headphones, Katy Perry and other songs. I so miss listening to 'American' music. My hotel room at the Tibet Guest House today is a few notches better than the room I previously stayed in. The price should be the same but this one comes with a little kitchen, a huge bed and a bathtub. It is not ready yet so I am killing some time. I am glad I decided to duck in; I really miss writing, thinking, listening to music, filling my mind with random knowledge from Wikipedia and so forth. Maybe I can even watch a show or two and burn through another 300 Rupees.

I made a mistake earlier in my stay 'throwing ideas around' with the kids. I unintentionally made promises I couldn't keep. I am still a child myself and definitely not one of the most responsible and on-top-of-things person. I have whimsical wishes; like changing my plan to go to Nepal practically at the last minute. I forgot that when it comes to a bunch of kids, it is better to have everything decided before telling them. That is something I have to work on, for a while now. Keeping promises and responsibilities. Nine of the kids were offered to be taken to picnic spots by their school on Friday for 300 Rs. each so I agreed to pay the amount since I had put the field trip on hold. But since nine of them were going, the other ten wanted to go somewhere also. And I felt obligated to make all of them happy. After some yelling, disagreements, ideas, I am taking the remaining kids to the Children’s Park with Auntie and Hari. Since it is ten kids and not nineteen, we can manage the local bus and save like 2,000 Rs. I told the kids going to the picnic that I’d get them packed breakfast Friday morning and somehow that calmed the feelings of wanting to go to Children’s Park also instead of the school picnic. So the field trip has been settled and everyone is happy.

Basically with the children, I am trying to put myself into the shoes of a parent (which may be my second mistake). I want them to feel comfortable asking me when they need something, but at the same time it is hard to do that with nineteen children. When you buy one child something, you have to buy the others the same thing. 100 Rs isn’t a lot, but times nineteen, it boggles the mind. I think maybe I am ‘treating’ them too much, but at the same time if I were their parent, I would be doing the same thing, feeding them nice snacks and getting them DVDs. I hope I am not spoiling them. Spoiling children is very bad. They also lack a role model/disciplinary person, basically they lack a parent. I don’t know how other orphanages work. Probably the older ones have several permanent caretakers who meet basic needs. But along with basic needs, children also need to be ‘raised’ with good manners, values, principles, compassion, etc. Am I being too idealistic? The purpose of orphanages is to take care of abandoned children, but at the same time it is raising these children. They spend a lot of time in school so hopefully they are getting useful things from their lessons and teachers. But at the orphanage, they lack … a parent. They are good, happy children, some of them are more polite than others, some more affectionate.

There is nothing more perfect than reading a good book in a café with milk tea. Milk tea here is excellent, replacing my coffee-desires. There is no good American coffee to be had here.

I feel like I have done as much as I can and learned as much as I can at the orphanage. I am eager for another project, another environment, a new set of questions. I have gotten to know and exchanged affections with the kids, some more than others. I have given them treats and cooked for them, read to them, helped with homework, watched television and played outside with them, laughed with them. There’s not more that I can do but continue what I am doing, but continuing means there won’t be anything new.

I have developed an interest and concern with sex trafficking from finishing Half the Sky. I want to read Somaly Mam. If I had more money, if I felt like I could, I would like to volunteer at New Lights in Kolkata. But I should probably save that for another trip. I have one and a half month here left to explore Nepal. Not long, not short.

I feel a bit exhausted, a bit cynical, a bit empty-minded. My vision is dizzy when I walk down the streets. I am thinking and thinking. I am a very reserved person and not the most willing to trust. But at the same time, I hold high ideals and I am disappointed when they are not met, anyway, even when I don't trust. I don't trust the salesmen, I don't trust the people around me, I don't trust myself. I am thinking, thinking and reading a lot and I am figuring a way out of something I have been stuck in for a while now.

I escaped to Thamel again. I desperately needed a hot shower after not having any the last time I came. Cheaper hotels are great, but electricity and hot water are no guaranteed, even when they said so. I know the difference between lukewarm and hot. So tonight I am staying at one of the best; so excellent. It rained yesterday for the first time since I have been here. And more than that, it rained bits of ice. It wasn’t really that cold, compared to NY, so I couldn’t figure out where the ice came from. Chilly, sure, but not snow condition. When I woke up this morning, the whole town was swallowed up in thick, spooky fog. I have never seen fog so thick. I was so happy to see the sun again at noon today and decided that I must take a shower before anything else gets done. Yes, I needed it that badly. In Nepal, I am always dreaming of a hot shower.

Tomorrow I am off to the orphanage again. I am taking the three oldest girls to the hair parlor with me. I figure the three little ones don’t care and their hair is short and manageable as it is. The kids have no problem building fire and sticking their body parts in there. I got antsy watching them.

Living with 19 kids can be a lot some days. So I hide out in the room a few hours a day and read depending on how I feel. I love waking up to their yelling and laughing and going to sleep with their crying and shouting. But some times, I just need quiet, some grown-up time. I have been reading Raymond Chandler who I thought was Raymond Carver. I knew it struck me as a bit odd; but I am loving Raymond Chandler. Apparently I am into detective stories now. I watch Burn Notice when I am here at a hotel; it is awesome, kick-ass.

I am still waiting on the computer; did not forget to bring the charger this time, but did forget about my glasses and almost, my credit card. I always have so much stuff with me when I go into Thamel, don’t even know why and I always return with even more stuff. I have to watch what I spend on books; it’s more than food and adds up to more than a hotel room sometimes. And I plan on selling all of them back for half the price; I don’t need the books I have already read. I seldom read books twice. I just like having them; but there’s no use having them and it will be even more of a fortune to buy it all and keep it all.

I keep thinking about writing and then, I think about why I stopped and I know it’s a good reason for now not to write but I miss it anyway. At least I am reading fiction again; that’s a step.

So I have been like this … working in spurges … getting tired and coming to Thamel to relax, getting tired of Thamel and the stillness and going back to the orphanage to get crazy. I wish I have more energy that I don’t need to stop. Field trip and a huge birthday cake coming up! Also, I forgot my camera charger although I bought a charge converter…half step accomplished.

Updating Updating

Due to the difficulty of typing fast on these elderly keyboards and the slow internet, I haven't updated as frequently as I hoped. I can't wait until my laptop is fixed and I can type as much as I want.

Not too interesting for the past two weeks or so since I last blogged. I am closer with the children and they are speaking in English more frequently around me. I have a couple of things planned for us in the upcoming weeks. One is the celebration of my birthday ta-la. I am taking the older kids to the zoo and a big birthday cake on the day for everyone. There is nowhere else I'd rather be for my 22 than at the orphanage with these 'wonderful' kids. Apparently they didn't know the word 'wonderful' until we were watching Ben 10 last night. Last night was really wonder-ful. We watched television and everyone were all snuggled up together. At one point, I had three kids lying on me.

The kids' 15 day vacation is coming up. I am going to take them on a field trip. I will be cooking a few more dinners for them before I leave. One will be the classic American pasta with tomato sauce and garlic bread. The other will be ... hmmm. Hari took me to the supermarket recently, this huge supermarket with everything I could ever need. Definitely lots of options. The kids are always very happy when I cook and they eat it all, always but do I trust the taste buds of a bunch of kids who would eat anything with ketchup and sugar? Not so much.

I will be leaving for Pokhara shortly after my birthday for two or three weeks. I will visit an orphanage near there, bike and ride a horse, take a boat out, walk around, breathe some fresh air. Oh my god, fresh air.

And when I come back, I will have about two months left, maybe one and a half where I would like to teach English at their school. I have some serious math to do for the field trip. I will make it happen, but...I am anxious about the dwindling funds.

Also I promised to take the two older girls to the hair salon. I am also debating about dying my hair a dark red, again, but a serious red this time, not just a shiny hint of red. I am back in Thamel, desperately needing a hot shower, just waiting for my room. No problem, no problem. The kids love that phrase.

Sick Sick Sick

I haven't eaten for one full day and spend two days sleeping to cartoons on Cartoon Network and the Disney channel. I felt horrible yesterday, truly horrible; did not feel that sick for a while. I am not sure how but I started sneezing right after I took a shower at the orphanage, a hot shower but the water kept going off after a while. I was so hoping that it was just a cold and not from drinking contaminated water or food. I feel much better today and very hungry. It's very early though so it's cold outside and I didn't bring enough warm sweaters for me to venture out and possibly get lost. I am always getting lost in Thamel because the streets all have splits and a lot of stores just look the same. Padma's tea shop is green-colored on the inside, and so are five other tea shops I wandered pass.

I am beginning to sense the size and location of everything in Thamel. It reminds me so much of ChinaTown, very crowded, dirty and a repetition of the same stores. I was going to go to the waterfall again with the kids yesterday, which is a holiday/saturday that they get off. But I asked Hari if they took the easy path or the hard one and he said the hard one, and I was like, nope, never mind, not doing that again.

Oh yes, so Hari took me on a serious mountain climb to a waterfall that he said was just ten minutes away. It was not ten minutes. And afterward, he was all like referring to the way we came up, so maybe that's too dangerous for you, yes? And I was like Uhm yes! Ha, ha, so we took a very leisurely path down where the trucks drive up.

I spend way too much money for the past week, way way way too much. I think I will go back to the orphanage today but if I am not feeling better, I don't want to risk the bus ride. I prefer to be as comfortable as possible when I am sick, of course. Hmm, time for breakfast. I'd like to go back to that Metro Cafe, they serve very good food. And I think last time I went it was 8:00. The hotel is great but they dont serve great, plentiful food.

I am here in Thamel after two days at the orphanage. I really needed a hot shower and a good night's sleep so I came early in the morning to find a good hotel around ten dollars. I did find one and it is ... kind of awful. At first, the room was good but the bathroom was awful. Then, I moved to where the bathroom is okay but the room is terrible. A lot of trekkers stay here in their sleeping bags, which is okay, but I couldn't ft my sleeping bag in so I had to sleep within the sheets and dirty quilt. The Fuji Hotel was excellent but they charge almost twice the price, including a private bathroom. Maybe I don't need a private bathroom after all.

The flight and layovers took a very long time, but was actually shorter than I thought somehow because of the time differences. I expected the London airport to be awesome but it wasn't, it sucked, lots of long hallways for no reason I think. I slept on a bench for a few hours and for the two days I was in transit, I only ate two chicken/turkey sandwiches. I was upgraded to first class from Bahrain to Kathmandu, which was okay. I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't feel sick and could have ate my salad and meal. First class gets serve actual food; whatever they serve to the rest of us is not actual food. Four pieces of lettuce does not a salad make. I stayed in Bahrain for a few hours, people watching and drinking a passion fruit/green tea smoothie. A lot of women were in burqas and they walked with such grace. From the airplane, I saw some of the buildings of Bahrain, very desert-like. I would have liked to explore, except for the burqa-ed women.

I had to wait for about half an hour or so for Padma to get me in the airport because I thought the visa would take a long time. There was basically no line so I got it done in minutes, no hassle. Well, there was hassle from the workers in the airport trying to get me a cab but I had to explain over and over again that my friend was coming to get me. I did make a few friends. I was so happy that they didn't lose my baggage during the transits.

The area of Thamel in Kathmandu is like rural China so I wasn't too culture shocked. The tiny, wide-opened stores with piled up goods was exactly alike the ones I saw in my hometown of Minan. They don't have modern buildings at all. The cars and motorcycles are a bit crazy at times but I wandered around today for like three hours and I did not lose a limb. Generally they pay attention to all the people around them. The streets are very crowded at some points. I wandered into the square with all the temples where the One With The World Festival was going on in celebration of the United Nation High Commisioner For Refudgees, UNHCR. I was wondering why they had a long row of photographs and captions about different refudgee problems in the past and how they were helped. I thought hmm, Nepal, center of humanitarian aid, hmm.

I can't believe this Sunday will be my last Sunday working. Since June, I have worked basically every Sunday for 16hrs. It was hard for my body to always be alert since I was 'working' and for my short attention span to keep remembering what I was supposed to do. I am 98% relieved because I have been telling the boss for months to hire someone else so I don't have to be there the whole day. The remaining 2% is slightly nostalgic, slightly in disbelief. I always dreaded waking up Sunday mornings, but it adds a nice bonus to my weekly cash-flow. I usually watch The Nanny for a few hours in the morning while I work as the cashier. I am going to miss that super big screen.

After taking the train twice into the city and after about seven phone calls to my insurance company and these doctor's offices, I finally made an insured appointment. Some of these shots requires three injections months apart. I am not sure how it works. And some of these are just one shot. I won't worry. I will just get what I can and figure it out as I go.

My appointment is Monday, three days before I leave (although ideally I should have gotten these shots a month prior to). One thing I need to work on is to get things done as soon as possible. I have always been a little procrastinator which means I have paid a lot of late fees. And I have never thought of a really good reason to stop. From now on, I need to remind myself that I need to get into the habit of becoming an efficient daily-tasker.

After my appointment, I am going out to eat with a friend and have an early celebration of my 22th birthday. I am getting my boss a money tree as a going away present.

I am going to miss my dog a lot, I already know. And dirty hip hop music - oh Rihanna. Tomorrow is my day off and I am debating going to the shopping mall and getting the remaining list of things. Or...I can do it...wait, is this procrastination or am I just exploring my options?

For Monday,

1) First thing in the morning, I need to fax over my transcript requests.

2) Get on the 8:20 am train so I can be at my 9:30 am doctor's appointment.

3) Enjoy lunch with a friend. Sushi or Steak? Something I won't be able to have in Nepal.

4) Get a Money Tree, maybe some sweaters if I see any.

5) Be back for work at 6:00 pm.

For Tuesday,

1) Work from 8 am until 12 pm.

2) Take the earliest bus to Barnes and Nobles, Target, Wal-Mart (the one that was recently robbed of a million dollars or so) and Old Navy for discounted things and necessities like medication, socks and underwear/bras.

3) Be back to work at 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

For Wednesday,

1) Clean, organize, organize, organize!

For Thursday,

1) Keep organizing.

2) Leave house before 7:00 pm, arrive in city at 8:00 pm, three hours until flight should be plenty of time.

Wow. Where did my two weeks go? Seriously? Honestly, I am about to pull my hair out at work. I am bored and tired of it, although I will miss how comfortable it is here and how comfortable my bed is. So it must be time for me.

Am very nervous, however.

Money Like Water, Money On Trees

Sheryl WuDunn is a great, great speaker. She's got me convinced, even before I have read her and her husband, Nicholas Kristoff's book, Half the Sky.

For Monday, I have a doctor's appointment set up for 10 am, need to fax over things to my ex-schools and maybe stop by Barnes and Nobles and grab the book.

The days are passing by so fast. My excuse for watching so much television is that I am leaving soon and soon, there will be no more laugh tracks. What else do I need... every item is another $10 - $20.

I underestimated how much I'd spend on supplies before my trip. I bought a good-sized duffel bag for the majority of my things. I want to bring as little as possible because I hate (the idea of) dragging a cartwheel of luggage across the world with me. I rather be quick to move about if need be. On a regular basis, I don't even like to bring purses. If I can stuff everything into my pockets, then I am good. I am not big on accessories. I don't know really what to expect during my lay-overs in London and Bahrain.

Did you know that there is a small island country called Bahrain, and it is near Iran? I don't like the thought of being so close to Iran. I have eleven hours in London, which means I could venture out, take a bus or train and poke my head around central London. And six hours in Bahrain where I am just going to stay put and relax.

I bought a new camera and everything came up to a good price because I went on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It's small, pink and feels fragile on my hands. I hope I won't have any problems uploading photos to a computer, since I won't be bringing my Mac. I hope by Internet Cafes, they mean With Computers.

I got myself a really comfy looking sleeping bag that will keep me warm even if its below 20 apparently, it's called Everest something. Since the orphanage doesn't have a heating system, I will be extremely, extremely cold. I think maybe I will spend a week at a hostel and get situated so my body doesn't revolt from the sudden difference in necessities.

I need some more sweaters, a sturdy pair of boots, canvas-slip ons, maybe a scarf. I am really trying not to spend more than I have to. My funds are dwindling as we speak.

17 Days to Go

I feel like there is so much to do before I leave. I called the doctor's office too late today. I was supposed to get up early and get all these tasks done but I chose to watch television and stuff myself with food instead. Just when you think that you couldn't possibly sleep anymore, you go through most of another day unconscious. So when I did get up to groom myself and go off to work, I did not feel good.

One thing that worries me is that I have less money now than I thought I would at this point. Someone assured me that I'd be surprised how much I could do with a small amount of money. She has been so reassuring while I am freaking out. My body responds alarmingly to stress so I always know when I am.

The first few nights, probably two or three weeks I will be in Nepal, I will be waking up five-six times a night. Mark my word. Oh subconscious anxiety, what you do to my body. Let's be more positive.

The most important thing is to get vaccinations. That's all. Everything else can be compromised. Another thing is to make sure my applications to colleges are set. My budget is loosely done. I also need to call my bank and inform them of my whereabouts. I can get my visa when I get there or I can apply now and get it in a week. Hmmhmm.

I don't feel like sleeping. I slept all day. I am nervous, but that's normal. Hmmhmm.
