Photos: My Scholarship entry - Travelling south

I've just finished a Bachelor of Journalism but the last thing I want to do is be in an office for 8 hours a day.
I want to take pictures, meet people, experience culture and explore the wonderful place we live in.
I'm in awe of the world we live in and that's thanks to amazing photographs from talented photographers immersing themselves in the day to day environments they capture.
I would love to be a part of that, it would be incredible, a dream come true.

A 'place' I have visited

I'm a final year journalism student who wants nothing more than to travel the world with a camera.

I think in Australia our horizons are very limited, mostly due to our geographic isolation, our separation from the rest of the world.

Photojournalism breaks barriers, it is across all cultures, faiths and lands and works to unite those who are different.

That is something I want to be apart of.

After graduating at the end of the year my number one priority is working towards a career travelling as a journalist.

This would be the perfect start. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Thank you for your consideration.

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I'm a highly passionate 2nd year journalism student with the dream to travel and shoot the many faces of the world.

I believe I should be chosen for my drive for journalism and my want to take the skills I have further, to ultimately build a career.

I know it will take a lot of hours, a lot of hard work and even more rejection but I will work tirelessly until I get there.

For me, photojournalism is not just about portraying the world to itself through photographs but also the experience behind being there and capturing the moment.

I recently came across this set of images from Syria: (http://ir-ingr.livejournal.com/1185799.html) and I found it not only confronting and emotive but highly motivational.

I think the value obtained through the work of photojournalists far exceeds the amount made from the selling of magazines and newspapers. It's human interest in the extreme and I believe there will always be a place for it.

I would be very honored and forever grateful to be selected for what would be to me, the best possible start to what I want to do for the rest of my life.
