My holiday trip to Jodhpur Rajasthan

INDIA | Friday, 20 July 2018 | Views [86]

Recently I, along with my family and other relatives, had gone to Jaipur for a wedding. I took this opportunity to go visit Jodhpur, which takes only about 5 hours to reach by car. Jodhpur was a unanimous choice for travel to all of us, as we had heard a great deal about the beautiful locations in Jodhpur. Many famous Indian and Hollywood movies were shot in Jodhpur. This blog is about my fabulous holiday trip to Jodhpur.

How I reached Jodhpur from Jaipur

After attending the wedding in Jaipur, I hired a cab for 6 days to explore Jodhpur and its nearby sites. It took about 7 hours to reach Jodhpur, as we stopped en route to visit Pushkar. Pushkar has the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma in the whole world. We saw the immensely sacred Pushkar Lake and sat on one of the many ghats on the lake to admire the views. We also had some time to see the local bazaar and Rangji Temple.

Got great hotel deals

Nirali Dhani

The cab service company, which I had booked for my Jodhpur tour, also took care of my accommodation in the city. I had requested them to book a budget hotel for my stay, and they did a wonderful job in finding the right hotel to fit my budget. In Jodhpur, I stayed in Nirali Dhani, whose tariff just came to Rs.2,000 per night with a complimentary breakfast.

Enjoyed a wonderful guided Jodhpur tour

In Jodhpur, I had hired a local guide, along with the cab. The guide, Mansingh, was a local of Jodhpur, and he was with us throughout our tour, narrating interesting tales, and telling about the history and culture of Jodhpur. He guided us to the best eateries and famous restaurants, where we could find tasty local cuisine. And guys if you ever need assistance with local Jodhpur taxi or car rental the contact my good friends from Rajputana Cabs that offer good taxi fare for Jodhpur car rental service and I booked a Jodhpur to Jaisalmer taxi tour from them at Rs 2500 per day.

A trip to Osian & Jaisalmer

Osian mata temple

On Day 3 of our tour, we left Jodhpur and made our way to Osian, a little town near Jodhpur. We visited the famous Sachchiya Mata, or Osian Mata Temple, which is famous for its architecture and its interiors which are visually appealing. After this visit to Osian, we made our way to our next major destination, Jaisalmer, which we reached by evening time.

Day 1 in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer golden fort

On our first day in Jaisalmer, we toured Jaisalmer Fort in the morning. The fort was so huge that it took almost 3-4 hours to visit the various temples and walk on its lanes. After lunch, we drove to the desert camps at Khuri. The sand dunes and the desert landscape at Khuri were unbelievable. The camel safari was amazing and so was the live dance performance by the folk singers in the evening.

Back to Jaipur

Hawa mahal jaipur

On Day 5 of our tour, we came back to Jaipur by road. On the way, we made a halt for 2-3 hours at Ajmer Sharif Dargah. We visited the shrine of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and were amazed at the architecture of the place.
