Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Photography for me isn't a hobby it is a life-style. Why do I wake up at an ungodly hour on weekends while most people sleep in? Why do I head out into the direction of an incoming storm instead of finding shelter? Why do I do it? I'm compelled to. It's who I am. It's my calling. I can't imagine doing anything else. It's the way I communicate with the world around me. To inspire, to influence, to tell great stories in a single frame. Through the lens I aspire to be a better artist and more importantly a better human being.

I suspect photography has been in my blood since my father a retired NYPD Crime Scene/Photo Unit photographer gave me a point-and-shoot for my 10th birthday. The Statue of Liberty was my first assignment. Not too bad for my first time out.

After years in the film and television industry, after a couple of life changing events I have returned to the medium that drives my passion and my fascination in expressing stories. I am a believer in the adage that a picture is worth a thousand words, and I want to make sure every syllable counts.
