48 Hours In Budapest

Hi, I am an aspiring filmmaker from the UK. I have grown up with a passion for creativity and travel. Filmmaking has become my favourite creative medium over the last few years as it allows you to connect with your audience through an infinite combination of images and sound. My dream is to be able to combine my two passions, and tell stories of different cultures and environments through my films. I want to capture the essence of every country I travel to and allow the audience to feel what it's really like to be there. I want to tell the stories of those who don't have a voice, and inspire others to travel. Winning this Scholarship to Columbia would mean the world to me; I am always open to learning new things, sharing ideas and improving both my creative and technical knowledge of filmmaking. Traveling across the beautiful landscapes of Columbia being mentored by Brian Rapsey would be huge honour, helping to pursue my future career and develop my skill set as a filmmaker. I believe Brian would be the perfect mentor as my main areas of interest are Directing Cinematography and Editing, therefore I think I would learn a great deal on this assignment.

Thank you for your time,

Jacob Crow-Mains

Photos: My Scholarship entry - Wildlife Selection

Hi, Im an aspiring wildlife photographer from the Uk, I'm currently a student at UCA, trying to develop my skills in Photography and Filmmaking. Ever since I was young I've had a passion for Nature and Wildlife; growing up by a forest I believe has been a big influence in this. I recently visited an exhibition in london called 'Wildlife photographer of the year' at the natural history museum; I was blown away by some of the images! some of the Photographers were as young as ten years old. I have always had an interest in the art of photography and film. Recently I have bought a DSLR camera to develop my technical skills, however I know the most important aspect of photography is the Philosophy, I spent hours flicking through 90's issues of National Geographic looking at some of the stunning imagery; the way the photographers are able to convey such powerful messages through a single photograph is truly inspiring. I'm very keen to learn and I believe this would be an amazing opportunity for me. My dream is to spend my life travelling and taking Photographs that will convey important messages and inspire others to change the way they think about the environment we live in.
