Tomorrow we fly.

It has been 6 months since we made the decision to hike as much of the Camino as possible during our time off. For us, this means a flight to Madrid with a short visit there, where we and five others will gather for fun and apparent frothy mustaches. After that we board a train north to Leon and shall begin our westward journey. While I feel so grateful for the embarkment of this journey, I can't help but wish we were able to walk the whole Camino.

After learning about the country, practicing Spanish with hopes of basic communication and light conversation, and packing, repacking and weighing my backpack, I think I am ready. Everything I have read advises against bringing too much, make do with what you have, etc., but I want to be dry and warm enough, which is common sense. But my first real Camino lesson is letting go of bringing too many clothes.
