Haven taken to writing self-memos on my phone and then emailing them to myself with the free wifi in starbucks.

Tuesday 24/8, 3.30pm, Frankfurt Botanicher Garten (Botanical Gardens).
Laying in the sun surrounded by beautiful greenery. There are laughing children, chatty adolescents riding old fashioned bikes, bronzed german guys sun bathing, singletons sitting on benches, and a guy practising tight rope walking with a peice of elastic strung between two trees. He's struggling with pivoting on the spot.

If people are this relaxed and loving of life in a primarily business city, I can only imagine what Berlin will be like :)

Wednesday 25/8, 7.20am, Frankfurt hostel, Kaiserstraßer (Kaiser Street).Met up with German Max ~ 4pm yesterday. Had a chat up in the hostel then went for a walk along the river Main. Made our way to an italian restaurant he loves called Va Piano on Geotheplatz (Geothe Place). Yum!
We then went for a drive on the motor way. Really hard to get used to being in the passenger seat on the side I'm used to driving on. Also kept freaking out when we'd turn a corner onto the other she of the road! Then came the free-speed section of the motorway. Fastest we went was 225km/hr, but that's because his car couldn't do more. Fantastic fun.

Walked heaps. Only prob is that I have at least 3 blisters on each foot >_< sehr (very)painful.

Wednesday 25/8, 2.18am, Frankfurt hostel, Kaiserstraßer (Kaiser Street).
Feet feel a bit better. Popped a blister this morning eurgh!
Just killing time today. Finished my novel, trying to find sunnies - mine broke on the FIRST day! Nein Sonnenbille :( But I'll keep looking!
To Michael's tonight with Max. Looking forward to it!

Getting there

Flight took ages and no time, all at once. Strange mix. Slept a lot from KL to DE )deutschland; germany) which was good. Woman next to me asked "going home?" - feel kind of honoured to be assumed to be german!

Has happened a few times since. I politely declined a leaflet distributor in the street, but no words needed for that. I've realised that if I dont open my mouth, Im assumed to be German! I like it. I guess it's just different (obviously) from my Bali experiences.

The two most used sentences already:"entschuldigung, sprechen Sie englisch?" and "sorry, mein deutsch ist nicht gut."
Works well. It's just having the courage to use them.

Overcast yesterday and today, and for the next few by the looks of the weather forecast.

Frankfurt is very much a business city. But I love the old buildings next to the new, trees around the place. Going exploring properly today. Shoes cut up my feet first day though so itll be an.. interesting experience!

Been in touch with Max, Michael and Phil. Good to hear their voices - still verz surreal to think I'm in the same country as them!! (well, Phil's in Czech and Michael was in Netherlands.. but still).

FREAKING OUT.

Woke up with a cold yesterday; glands swollen, head foggy. Not optimal physical condition for running around last minute making sure I've got everything. But hey, figure I can sleep it off on the 27 hours (ugghh) flight.
