On Main Street in London, Kentucky you will find a small brick building. At one end of the unassuming brick edifice you will find a sign painted on the bricks that reads "Weaver's Hotdogs Est. 1940." Inside you will find a local staple that has been run by the same family since its opening. A third generation member of the family is currently operating Weaver’s. They are famous in the area for their secret family chili recipe. It is not uncommon to see members of the community laughing as they reminisce over a chili bun (chili served on a hotdog bun). However, it is not just the food that has attracted London residents to Weaver's for the past 72 years. The walls are covered in old photographs that show the history of London, its inhabitants, and Weaver's regulars. One member of the "Old Timers," a group of older gentlemen that come in every morning for their coffee and to read the newspaper, pointed to a picture of himself when we was 19 years old serving in the Korean War. He has been a regular at Weaver's since the 1950's. The establishment is not just a restaurant, it is a local fixture. Weaver's is the embodiment of small town America: a friendly place where you can enjoy good food where everyone is friendly and knows your name.
