Pulau Ubin: Story Untold

I don't know about you. In fact I'm not sure if you have visited Singapore before. If you hadn't, then you probably have not heard about an island called Pulau Ubin.

Well, it's a beautiful island, with a very rustic lifestyle. It's population? Close to none as most of the inhabitants have already migrated to the mainland. However there are still a few islanders who are more than happy to show you around. The place looks eerie at night. There has been a haunting tale or two. But until you visit this island, I shall not say anymore.

To my son

Dear Jibby,

I have made many mistakes in my life. At times I felt God may have forsaken me after all that I have done. But when you arrived, I knew that somewhere I must have done something right.

You kept me awake almost every night. Soon you will be 3-months old and I'm constantly awed at how bright you are. Teasing and engaging me in your giggles and cries. Often, it's just you and me because we both know your father is just good financially. *grins*

Let him rest and we'll play together. At times I'll frustrated because I don't do baby talk, but when you flash your toothless grin and chuckle out loud, I forget everything else. No one can take you away from me. And I'll fight with HIM if anything should happen to you.

As you lay asleep in your crib, snoring away in your slumber, I shall wait for that daunting hour for my daily task to calm you down, feed you and place you back to sleep.

Love,

Your mummy

The Sun

The biggest star in our galaxy. Yet she looks like a ball of fire in our eyes. Her appearance can make or break the deal for some of us. On a cloudy day, she glows as if Heaven actually put a spotlight on Earth.

It's hard to capture THAT moment where you nod and say "I think I got a good picture." Nope, not for me. I took several snapshots and would flick through again and again on the small screen to double check what I've got. But I never delete a picture until I have upload it on the computer for a clearer review. And sometimes, the worst shot could be my best shot.

Photos: Profile Picture

I am a daughter, a wife and now a mother. Ever since I got my hands on my first camera (belonging to my father), I have been engrossed with snapping the best possible photographs. I know that a perfect shot is usually one in a million hence I used to purchase a lot of films(days before DSLR). My mother used to berate me for wasting money as she said that I'm not going to make a career in photography. She's right. I'm not. Photography is a passion. I am not looking to make money. I want to be able to immortalized the world as I see it. I would want that opportunity to be guided and experience the wonders of the world without being too mainstream. I will never have such opportunity knocking on my door anytime soon in Singapore. Hence I am not letting this go. It has always been a dream to get my pictures on the walls of National Geographic. Maybe one day my dream will come.
