Borneo

A story from a trip with Intrepid in Borneo!

“An Intrepid trip,” I hear Kiddi say to me enthusiastically. “We could do a 13 day trip around Borneo!”, he shouts before he starts to recite the itinerary. All I hear is something about turtles, “OK, lets do it!!!”, I say just to shut him up.

That was 7 months ago.

The trip entailed a hell of a lot more than turtles, let me tell you. It was also challenging, strenuous and pushed boundaries! But more importantly we had fun, we laughed and we made fantastic friends (I'm not talking about leeches).

Day one: Group meeting at 6.30pm

We meet our tour leader Stacey, and the rest of the gang in the hotel lobby. Kiddi comments that everyone (a part from Louise) is very old? Actually that is the only thing he says to me the whole evening. I try to point out that “old people” can be fun, might have funny stories, that he might learn something from them etc. etc. but he is not having any of it. I also point out to him that I'm old too? “Yes, and you smell”, he answers back and snigger's. I give up. Tough love it is! We are going and that is it, old people or not!

Day two: Travel to Klau village & dinner in local home.

We arrive in Klau Village after driving up, up, up, don't look down, windy roads. We are greeted by our host Sappinggi. He is local legend, a mountain extrordinare! He has the most beautiful smile and a kind gentle aura that very few people posses. We watch local children dance and are invited to join in. Kiddi kindly refuses with the lame excuse that he has not brought his dancing card. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the fact there are no disco lights and a DJ is not playing Lady Gaga.

Sappinggi invites us to his house for dinner. The food is divine! After dinner Sappinggi talks about the mountain that we are planning to walk up and then he brings out the RICE WINE! A drink that is supposed to help us forget that we are walking up the mountain. We play a fun drinking game! Everyone drinks two fingers or two swollen fingers to start with and then we have to introduce your selves. Am I going to be the Human Rights Lawyer from Scotland? I some how do not think I will get away with it? Especially since Peter is on the trip! Kiddi could be a Swedish underwear model! No probs, there! Some of the gang go home and some stay on to drink more? The pictures that emerge the next day are hilarious but I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to divulge the content or who was involved?

Day Three: Head to the base of MT Kinabalu to prepare for the climb.

We go for a walk around the village, up a hill, down a hill and then back to the village. We see a mum with a beautiful boy, a little cute puppy, amazing landscape, a humongous spider and then Mt Kinabalu in all its entirety. We can not believe that we are going to walk up there? Or crawl? We buy walking sticks and water bottle holders from the family with 16 children?

I had not planned to walk up Mt Kinabalu but I get caught up in all the excitement and agree to give it a go.

Day four: The climb begins.

On the bus to the roots of Mt Kinabalu Kiddi tells me a story from when he was younger about falling out of a tractor and I nearly pee my self with laughter.

Slow and steady is our motto as we all start the climb. Kiddi equipped with his ipod raises ahead (he has longer legs than we do). The rest of the gang walks together and we cheer every time we have walked another 0.5 Km! We stop and eat snack, walk some more, we stop and eat lunch. On the way up I listen to Peter and Louise talk about history. It is nice to listen and not talk. At 4K mark the group breaks up and Peter and Peg walk ahead. Katie and I pare up with Robbie (Sappinggi's son). He has us laughing so much that we do not even notice that we have walked to the top. (Well, to Laban Rata). When we walk into the lodge Kiddi is sitting at a table cool as a cucumber. It had only taken him 3 hours to walk up but 5 hours for the rest of us. For the rest of the day we talk about the walk, play Scrabble and eat dinner. Everyone is in bed by 7 o'clock. 7 o'clock PM!!! Some people fall asleep right away others tumble and turn and only manage to sleep a little bit until Stacey's alarm starts beeping at 2 o'clock. I decide not to climb the last 3K but Kiddi on the other hand is excited and ready to go!

Day 5: The Summit!!

Kiddi comes back from the top just before 8 o'clock and collapses on my bed. He tells me that they had climbed up in the the dark and cold for a few hours and then the sun had come out. Reaching the to had been an amazing accomplishment! Of course it is!

The gang eats breakfast together and then there is only one thing left to do. Start the descend! Kiddi and Louise go ahead, Stacey, John and Sue over take us at some point. Katie and I take our time, talking for nearly 3 hours non stop. Walking down is harder than we thought it would be and as we get closer to the start line, our legs stop responding to instructions from the brain and completely do their own thing. After the o.5K sign there are steps going up hill? Who put them there? Is this a joke? No one remembers them being there the day before?

Day 6: Poring Hot Springs

We spend the day at the Poring Hot Springs soaking in the swimming pools, sunbathing and talking to Louise. I'm so looking forward to a nice hot shower but there is only cold water? It just did not make any sense? Cold shower at the Hot Springs?

The hotel is in a nice spot right in front of the Hot Springs. The deco is a little bit dated and the room is needing a good deep clean. There are no chocolates on the pillows just creepy crawlies that we have to fight before we go to sleep. The beetles are so big that they could be mistaken for birds! Boundaries are pushed like never before...

Day 7: Jungle Camp

Driving, Mengaris Village, river cruise, raining, setting up a hammock, nice food and an evening walk? We were both so worried about leeches that we can not really focus on anything. I think that I am been attached by one and make a complete fool of myself? I'm asked by one the local guides if I'm OK. I'm OK except my ego is a little bit bruised. This was supposed to happen to Kiddi! No me! Kiddi got bitten by one in the end. He does not seem to mind as he is not aware that it has happened? I was a little bit worried that he might need a blood transfusion as he was looking a little bit pale? How much blood do the fuckers suck?

The best thing about the day is going to sleep in the hammock. The best, best, best! Someone screamed in the night! I bet the person had a nightmare about our new blood sucking friends?

Stacey was right! The best night sleep on the trip!

Day 8: Home stay Program

Most of us could not wait to leave the jungle for a nice shower? Or the water scuba shower? The jungle is humid and we are feeling like hot sticky pudding with out the tasty smell.

At lunch time we meet our home stay family. Grandma, grandpa, mum, dad and two gorgeous boys! Grandma gives us amazing lunch and then we each take a turn to have the a scuba shower. Then we play with the boys. It is easy to play “monster” in any language! We all sit on the sofa and the older boy falls asleep next to me and then the little one falls asleep in my arms! I'm a super nanny after all????

In the afternoon we are supposed to walk to a cave but it gets canceled because of the rain so we go on a river cruise instead! We get to watch loads and loads of monkeys. Fabadosi!

When we get back to the nice people at Mengaris Village, they teach us how to cook Malay food. Kiddi and Katie are in charge of the chicken and the lady that helps them falls in love with him (What a surprise?). She tells him that he is gorgeous and that he looks like a Hollywood actor! The rest of us cook vegetable dishes and donuts. After dinner we dress up in Malay clothes and watch a dance and music show. Wonderful! The old lady banging the drums at the front is a rock star!

I just want to add that we slept in separate rooms at our home stay. I heard crying in the night? Not sure if it was the little boy or Kiddi.

Day 9: Sandakan

I get woken up at 7.00am. Kiddi opens the door and I can see right away that he has something very important to tell me!

“Grandma, is baking donuts!”, he says in a Chandler Bing voice. “What!”, I say jumping out of bed. “Donuts, like real donuts”. “Oh, yeah”, he answers. “OH.MY.GOD!”.

When we sit down at the breakfast table there is a SPREAD of donuts and hot chocolate. I wonder how many donuts I can eat? Kiddi wonders how many donuts he can eat? And eat? And eat? How many donuts we ate I can not tell you? What happens in Asia, stays in Asia is our motto. Our new motto? But what I can tell you... they were warm and scrumptious! How many calories??? Stop, don't spoil it....!

When we leave we are like two kids that have eaten too much sugar! Hyper! Silly! Over excited! Goofy! We can not believe it when grandma hands us a bag of donuts and water when we leave! Have we died and gone to donut heaven?

Day 10: Turtle Island

During the day we snorkel and sunbathe on the beach. We are just killing time before all the excitement that is going to happen in the evening!!!!

After dinner a man pokes his head around the door and shout's, “turtle ”. Everyone jumps up and we follow him as he runs down to the beach. There is a turtle walking on land and another one digging a hole. The man leads us to a turtle that is actually laying eggs. It is one of those surreal moments in life! We are watching a turtle laying eggs! OMG! The poor turtle is not aware that the eggs are being gathered and put into another safe hole, away from lizards and other creatures that may eat them. Then we walk down to the shore to watch around 80 little baby turtles being released into the sea. Adorable!

Day 11: Sepilok

At Sepilok Rehabilitation Center we get to watch Orangutans being feed. In the morning one Orangutan makes a grand entrance by walking along the walkway before he jumps into a tree waiting to get what I can only assume bananas from the two nice men on the platform. In the afternoon more Orangutans show up, two with babies!

Later on in the afternoon we also get to see Proboscis monkey's. We are all impressed with their large noses! Some people are actually more impressed that others? Only three worlds can describe this day!

Amazing! Beautiful! Wow! (Of course spoken with Australian accent;).

Day 12: Kota Kinabalu

We drive to Kota Kinabalu and we have a very relaxing afternoon. In the evening we eat our last dinner together. Peter writes a beautiful poem for Stacey.

Day 13: Departure

Kiddi jumped out of bed at 7:45am complaining about his back hurting! To me that is a sign of old age? I do not dare mention it to him though? As far as I remember, old people smell?

After breakfast everyone starts to go one by one... or two by two.

It is sad that the trip has come to an end!

Fantastic trip! Fantastic tour guide! Fantastic people! Cheers everyone!

KL... KL. ? No Kuala Lumpur

We decided to leave
Singapore in flying colors and flew with Tiger Air to Kuala Lumpur.
The taxi driver told us that we were flying from the “budget
terminal” and we felt like proper back packers for a minute or two.
We landed with out a place to stay so we sat down in a cafe in China
Town and each took turn to go out and look for a hotel. Kiddi went
first and came back with horror stories of smelly rooms, dirty sheets
and furry bathrooms. I found a nice homely place, and we got a clean
and spacious room on the 9th floor. It's called 5
elements? “What elements are there, I asked as we checked in?
There is of course, Earth, Wind and Fire? Isn't that a band, I say
and laugh?

We've been to see the
Petronas Towers and got in trouble on the way. We were just walking
and an Indian woman shouts out to us? We don't understand what she is
saying but we soon realize that we are walking in front of a temple?
We are half way and we don't know if we should continue walking or go
back? Kiddi continues to walk and I go back. We discuss why we
don't see Temples even though they are right in front of us? Maybe we
should start walking with our eyes open? We walk passed Kuala Lumpur
tower on the way there, which is the 4th largest tower in
the world. Petronas towers are impressive but we both agree that
seeing over hundred of workers eat lunch in front of a construction
site near by will leave a bigger and longer lasting impression on us.
We walk around the KLAK mall and decide to go to the cinema. It's
Kiddi's turn to choose the movie. We ate amazing food in China town
and walked around the stalls selling designer bags, shoes, watches
and sunglasses. We got harassed a lot, a lot, a lot but we liked
it!!! We especially liked it when they asked if we wanted to buy
“Louise Vuitton”. Is she a sister of the famous Louis Vuitton?

Singapore Sling

We left Tamara Negra on
the bus with our two new Dutch friends Sarah and Laura. The bus was
old, older and oldest and there was a sign indicting that we could
not spit on the floor. I'm glad they made that clear! The bus ride
was only 1 and half hour and unusually pain free? We landed in a town
called Jerantut, and we said goodbye to the girls and went looking
for the train station. We asked a number of people and they all
said,”over there behind the temple”, and we just could not see
any temple? Maybe they were all pulling our legs? So we did what we
always do, sing and walk and sing and somehow we always seem to find
what we are looking for. Kiddi bought us tickets on the train. There
was no first class, no 2 class, no 3 class, no nice seats, all the
same seats and as a special treat no AC. Joy. We had some time to
kill so we sat in front of KFC until it opened at 10 o'clock. We
watched people and they watched us? Well, Kiddi? We sang and danced
to Lady Gaga that was blearing out from the nearest phone shop. Life
was good for now. We boarded the “all the same seats” train and
it was crowded, noisy and hot! We sat down and we were instantly
miserable. 8 hours to go! Yeah! We tried to sleep but there was
talking, there was shouting and children crying. We got more and more
hot, sweaty and the smallest things started to annoy us. The only
bright moment was the 10 minutes when Kiddi did my hair in pony tails
and all the muslin women around us chuckled. We had promised
ourselves that we were going to go down a star or two accommodation
wise, but after 7 hours and 5o minutes on the train we both caved
in. We decided to stay in a 4 star hotel. We needed pampering, hot
shower, proper TV channels, Egyptian cotton and room service. WE ARE
FLASH PACKERS AT HEART! So after confusing the immigration a little
bit by being Icelandic and beautiful, we got a stamp in our passport
and checked into our hotel. Heaven!

We decided to jump on the
hop-on hop-off buses and see the city. On the bus it read that they
were “topless for our pleasure”. We did enjoyed the view and
the sights a lot but we got a little hot and bothered by being
topless for two hours. We forgot to hop off and cool down in the
shade. We walked in Little India during the day and passed stalls and
shops selling watches and materials for saris. There was a lovely
smell in the air of spices and Nan bread. We walked in Little India
in the evening and saw crowds of men walking, sitting on the street
or standing talking. This time we decided to enjoy the food so we
inhaled two types of curries with bread and diet coke. We went to the
Singapore Flyer (big wheel like the London Eye) and saw 360 degree
view of the city from air. We walked in China Town and went to an
Internet cafe to Skype home. We were not so impressed as China town
in the big Apple is all around more impressive. We took the cable car
to Sentosa Island and I nearly died on the way there because I've
developed a fear of heights (more about that later). We got there and
realized that it was a huge tourist trap so we got the first train
out of there. Phew! We've been out a few times. We went for a drink
at Raffles Hotel and of course drank Singapore Slings. Oh, they are
delicious! I drank all of mine and half of Kiddi's. We went to
Swissotel, which is the tallest building here in Singapore and we
took the lift to 70th floor and drank Vodka and tonic.
View was amazing! Kiddi has now 4 new BFF. Two (hot) Australian guys,
one British guy and one very tall Chinese guy. We have also managed
to relax a little bit and eat some what normal food like bagels with
cream cheese.

On a personal note, I've
officially become an old woman, or so I'm told. I think this might be
due to over exposure to the sun causing free radicals to go bonkers
in my brain, lack of fruit and vegetables in my diet (vegetable
crackers do not count and neither does vitamin C Mentos), and
pollution causing me to..... experience fear of heights.
This has taken me totally by surprise as I was hoping this would in
fact happen later rather than sooner. But instead of getting
depressed about it I'm going to embrace being a senior citizen so
I've ordered a state of the art zimmer frame, hearing aid, reading
glasses and booked an appointment with my dentist so I can have
dentures fitted. Happy days! I just wish Kiddi was more
understanding, as he continually whispers under his breath, KERLING!

Stories... from far away....

We have become like an
old married couple. We finish each others sentences and start singing
the same song and the same time and today we even sneezed
simultaneously??? We bicker, sulk and make up! A smile, a joke, a
hug, a funny impression and we are friends again. We only argue
about if the telly should be on or off, who sits in the good seat
with the view of the hot waiter, if the waiter is in my team or his
team and if we should stay or go (from what ever place we happen to
be at). We still have loads to talk about even though we have been
traveling for 7 weeks together!!! We talk about.... things like? You
know? Ahhh?

-What is your favorite color?

-I was attached by a humongous
beetle!!!!!!!!!!!

Shusshh!!!

-Are you having rice for dinner?

How did you know!!!

-Ertu med budduna pina?

Badar!!!

-Did you see????

Shameful!

We both have sentences that we repeat
nearly every day!

Gunna: Petta er otrulegt!

Kiddi: Skilur pu hvad eg meina?

So now we say: Petta er otrulegt skilur
pu hvad eg meina?

And most embarrassing story!

When we went snorkeling the instructor
told us we would swim with turtles. We both clapped our hands at the same
time and said: Yeah!!!!!!! When we realized what we had done we both
got very embarrassed! The instructor looked at us and said;” you
two are spending way to much time together!”.

There have been two mini melt downs
since we got Asia?

One of us got a cold sore and as a
result got a mini nervous break down!

The other one had a huge tantrum
because there was nothing good to watch on telly, the Internet was
not working and the shop with all the sweets was closed.

Singing in Singapore.

So we're in shopping frenzied Singapore. Malls everywhere. Kiddi is struggling. We could really go for broke here! So many temptations. Jeez Louise! Please send us money! Pretty please c",)... We're having trouble with where to go next as the weather on the island we planned to visit will be rain rain rain for the next week or so. Oh my, what to do?

We just put in some pictures from Taman Negara, our last stop.

Taman Negara

After a bittersweet goodbye to the
Perhentian Islands we hopped on boat and headed for the mainland.
Our good moods were soon changed when a German lady tried to steal
our good seats on the bus which we had reserved. Of course Kiddi was
not having any of it and got into a huge argument with her and chewed
her head off! You don't mess with the Queen, bitch!

The bus ride was a pleasant 8 hour
trip, kind of. So we arrive in Taman Negara. A gigantic rain forest
in the middle of Malaysia. Truly magnificent! Hopping from one gross
hotel to the other our spirits were high, the standard of the hotels
were not. We hokey pokey'd our way to the last hotel. And what do you
know, perfect fit!

Day after we took a scenic boat ride
through the forest. See the pictures, very pretty! And of course
being a rain forest it rains quite a lot here in the afternoon.
Enginn er verri tho hann vokni is our motto for this place. Later
that day we went on a night safari. It was super spooky driving
through the forest in the dark. We saw a few animals, leopard cat,
wild bore, birds and some creepy bugs. We had a blast!

Today we went on a trek again in the
jungle, this time we did a canopy walk. Now that was fun.... and
scary. Walking through the trees at that height!? WOW is the word!!
Gunna almost shit herself with fear and Kiddi walked as if he'd done
this million times. Hehe ok not quite. We were both pretty shaken...

The food in Malaysia has been very
disappointing. We went to the “nicest of the worst” restaurant in Taman
Negara for dinner this evening. Most of the restaurants are located
on the river so it feels like being at sea. We waited for our food
for an hour and a half and when we finished we had to take a boat to
land as the water levels had increased so much! We actually thought
for a while we would float down the river. Now that would have been a
great story to tell?

Needless to say, we MISS proper food!
Good brown bread, cheese, cereal. Just anything not containing rice
or noodles. We sit and dream about all the food we miss. If you are
reading this please send us rugbrod med ost! Pleeeeaaasssee!

Pictures coming soon ;-)

Perhentian Paradise...

Entrapped in Paradise?

- We left Krabi early in
the morning on a musical torture mini bus! Kiddi could only take it
for so long and asked the driver to turn the music down. We stopped
at a road side restaurant and Kiddi had to of course pose for a few
pictures for his fans.... this time young girls wearing head scarfs
and long skirts.

-We arrived at Hat Yai
and walked to the train station around the corner. We were told that
we could only get a low class ticket, which meant that we had to
stand for 5 hours. I, have a mini breakdown and cry out that there is
no way I will except that. Therefore, we decide to find the bus
station and were we get a ticket leaving, RIGHT NOW. When the mini
van drives away we realize that no one knows where we are in the
world so I text quickly to my sister. We have left there, are here
and going there?

-We arrive in Sungai
Kolok and cross the border to Malaysia without any problems. We get
mobbed by taxi drivers offering to drive us here there and
everywhere. We walk on and a older man starts talking to us. He seems
to know what he is talking about... Bus cost xxxxx and taxi costs
xxxx, and if you want to go there in a taxi it's only 110km? It's a
lot quicker? Blablabla? And before we know it we are in a taxi with
a crazy driver that spits out the window. After about an hour we both
realize that we didn't pay any attention to where the driver was
going to take us? Is it Tok Bali or Kuala Besut? Och well, we will
arrive somewhere?

-And we do, in Kuala
Besut. We arrive in dark and are taken to an agency that sells
tickets to Perhentian Islands. A fat man with a mustache says the
ticket costs 70 ringgit and if we can find a place that sells the
tickets cheaper he will match it. We know as well as him that all the
other travel agents in this small town are closed by now so we buy
tickets for the 8.30 boat in the morning.

-We are so tired by now
(traveling for 13 hours) that we book into the first hotel we see. It
is dirty and horrible. But it will do.

-We don't want to go out
but we have not eaten proper breakfast or lunch, so we are starving
Hank Marvin. As we walk down the street we are aware that we are the
only white people around? People stare and kids shout hi and run
away. We sit down in the 3rd cafe along and try to order
food. No one understands English so the conversation becomes quite
comical in the end? I order fried vegetables and rice and get noddle
soup! It was a good soup!

-We are both grumpy and
tired when we go to sleep. We wake up at 5 o'clock with loud singing
from a speaker coming from the nearest mosque and then the rosters
starts to talk. We walk down to the peer without having a shower or
breakfast. We are escorted into a small boat, which is full of French
people. Did we buy a ticket with the fast boat or the slow boat?
Neither one of us knows? Last night is a blur? “Have you noticed
that French people have this one particular facial expression” says
Kiddi and scrunches up his face. I laugh out loud and we are both
happy again.

-We arrive at the beach
after being transferred into a taxi boat just outside the bay. We
haven't discussed where we are going to stay but the first hotel we
see looks the business and I say “fuck it”, we are staying here!

-We shower (and fell
human again) and go down for a spot of breakfast. As we are sitting
enjoying our omelet, beans and toast and watching the blue sea and
white sand, a 1.5 meter iguana walks by? We both laugh? We have
arrived in paradise.....

-We spend the next days
sunbathing, watching hot men, swimming in the sea, watching hot men,
scuba diving, watching hot men, snorkeling, eating great food,
watching hot men, playing Olsen Olsen, watching a full moon, drinking
wine, watching hot men, walking on the beach....

-Life doesn't get any
better that this?????????????????

P.s just uploaded a bunch of pictures from here! Remember to comment!

Kiddi and I are not traveling on our
own? We are in total 8 now....	I've been sworn into secrecy about
some of the characters but I can tell you about...

Palina (the lonley planet guide)

Astfridur, or Asta for short (the baby
netbook that joined us in Phuket).

Now I'm sure you can guess at least one
of them?

The geckos that sleep in our hotel
rooms in Cambodia are called Geir, Gudmundur og Gudny.

-Can I have two spring rolls?????

-I'm the only heterosexual in the
village?

I wish I was a lady boy!

-Why?

Then I would have great legs?

-Nice legs but still ugly?

Do you see the hot guy at 9 o'clock?

-Where?

9 o'clock?

-There?

No, that would be 3 o'clock?

-Do you mean my 9 o'clock or your 3
o'clock?

Ah, don't worry? He is gone now.....

-Buffet lunch!

Since our last blog...

-We've danced the night away several
times.

-Cursed vodka/redbull and sworned never
again.

-Done it all over again the day after.

-Danced on beaches holding buckets of
cocktails in our hands.

-Thought we were classy ladies.

-Been wrong.

-Found sand in places sand should not
be.

-Been ever so lazy.

-Walked up a big hill to find a
wiewpoint and got lost on our way up.

-Been very bad tourists!

Tonight is our last night in Phi Phi, tomorrow we sail to Krabi. In the next few days we're making our way over to Malasia. We are very excited!

Untill next time...

On the road again...

After living the lavish life in Koh Tao we had to leave at some point. This time to another country! Our visa in Thailand was running out so we had to do a visa run. That meant taking a boat, bus, another boat and voila, we're in Burma! All in just six hours. You sail across a tunnel to a 5star resort stay for a half an hour long enough to get your stamp out of Thailand and in again. So we can check Burma of our list now!

But it wasnt all fun. We had to wait in Ranong after the bus at a very run down bus terminal for several hours. They couldnt sell us tickets as they did'nt know if there was room for the bus. so we wait, and wait and then wait some more. Bus arrives two hours late and just as we can start looking forward to getting out of that hell hole the ticket guy says it's full! I swear we died a little bit inside. To say we were frustrated would be a great understatement! I (kiddi) nearly had a meltdown. So they say if we're willing to stand for the first 30km we can get on it. Being very tired we just got on it ad crammed us between the seat. I swear i could see a little tear in Gunna's eye. But thankfully there ended up being two seats so everything worked out in the end! hurra!

After that ordeal we thought we'd end up in Phuket. Eh turns out Phuket has turned into a swedish colony! Everything is swedish, even the menus in restaurants! Not so charming!

We had a very weird experience yesterday. We went into Adidas to look for a sportsbra for Gunna and swimtrunks for me. The lady starts by saying to me when i ask if they have anything else than what she showed me and I quote "no you have to go to gay shop for that" Hehe can't say that it surprised me as one sales person in Bangkok said to me when i asked about some shorts that they were for girls or for my gay friend haha! So funny, but anyway so Gunna found a sportsbra she wanted to try on. The lady said no! It was to small and she couldnt even try it on, then Gunna asked if she could just buy it then. Again the answer was no! We left the store in shock!! We looked at each other and asked what the hell had just happened! ;-)

We're suffering a bit today. We painted the town pink last night. Went to see a drag show and it was so funny and good. The people here are pretty crazy! In a good way...

As i write this Gunna is still in bed. Its six in the evening. Better go feed her and change her so I can drag her out clubbing again tonight!

Love, Kiddi and Gunna!

Koh Tao troubles?

We started the day in Bangkok. Hot, bothered and annoyed. Thankfully Laura our lovely new aussie friend met up with us there and lifted our spirits. After that things were'nt so bad as they started. We had a teary goodbye and made our way to Koh Tao taking the night train that turned out to be surprisingly comfy. 8 hour train ride with a three hour boat trip we finally arrived on the island. Gunna suffered a bit on the boat claiming it was sea sickness but I think it's because she's turning into a daydrinker. "seasickness" yeah right....

We looked at a couple of guesthouse bungalows but ended up taking 2 days at a less than charming place. We just could'nt be bothered walking more with our backpacks in 35 degrees! I hopped out rented a scooter and snorkling kit and went snorkling. Meanwhile Gunna took a nap. Seasickness still bothering her?

We had lunch a felt very sorry for ourselves. As we walked about in town we passed a really cool hotel by the beach. It's only been open for ten weeks. We joked about we should just fuck it a check in there to save ourselves from the crummy bungalow hell we had. After a few minutes we were already checked in there!!! Hey we were having a bad day and needed a little pick me up. And if that includes a pool, beachbar and a lovely restaurant so be it! =) Bungalow out - amazing hotel IN! This is our first and last splurge..... or so we say.

I've gone diving here and its so beautiful. Never seen anything like it. Tomorrow i might go again, still need to see a shark. So that will be my mission tomorrow. As i write this Gunna is on the hotel rooftop roasting. I guess i better go turn her over.

Lots of love,

Kiddi and Gunna.

Bangkok - Ko Tao

Lordy Lordy!

So our love of night busses goes on. There's nothing we'd rather do than just ride night busses. It's so lovely being crammed into a "vip" bus with 50 other people. Drive for less than an hour then stop for 30 minutes and repeat that a few times. How sweet life would be!

As you might have read between the lines we're a bit tired and grumpy today. We have to spend the day in Bangkok waiting for our train to leave around eight o clock. To top that our backpacks got soaked on the bus so EVERYTHING is wet! Aaargh! No shower, no bathroom no clean clothes for the next 24hours. Can we ask for more?

On the other side Chiang Mai was lovely, did some awesome things and more importantly met some very lovely people. It's quite funny how the people you meet can make or brake the trip or place. Some sweet australian girls, a rambo from Norway and last but not least some very hot south americans haha...

Our next stop is Ko Tao an island in south thailand, best diving place in the country!! But first we have to take the night train and a speed boat to get there...

Untill next time, xoxo Gunna og Kiddi
