The True Princess

This photo is of my beautiful daugther enjoying a ride at a fair in Armadale Scotland. Her first ever sing ride that did not involve moms hands to do the pushing. I added this photo to the bunch to showcase my vision of photographing humans intertwining with there environment. The universe brought the perfect moment together before my eyes and I felt that it needed to be recorded.

Works of Stone

The Kings fountain, located in Linlithgow Palace, really drew my attention. The detail was amazing, a work of art that has survived the ages, the weather, man and countless wars and uprisings. The female of the fountain drew my attention instantly, and I felt almost obsessed with her presence. Obsessed enough to take a photograph, one that I gaze upon often and long to see again.

More then a Feeling

The rolling rugged landscape that stretched for miles, but dropped dangerously, with paths cut into the side of the hill that one could follow for hours and contemplate the meaning of life. Moments like those are more then anything money can buy. (Except for the trip itself of course...)

Birth Place of a Queen

Coincidentally, before travelling to Scotland I had read the book Mary Queen of Scots, by Margaret George. Delightfully I decided to go on a sort of "Mary Queen of Scots" pilgrimage, which of course included the place of her birth, Linlithgow Palace. Set upon a grassy hill, over looking a beautiful lake the castle that is home to the birthplace of the Monarch was empty and unkept with signs indicating rooms. Upon crossing the threshold however I was instantly transformed to the past and froliced through the once Royal chambers, touching the walls and floors, capturing every detail with my mind and my second mind- my camera.

Ode to a Hero

Upon entering the town Stirling in Scotland, the Wallace monument reined over the landscape visible for all to see from any point as a constant reminder of the Guardian of Scotland who dedicated his life for Independance. The walk up to the monument was a humbling experience as you reflect on the deeds of people long past. I traversed the climb to the tower and all throughout it in bare feet to try and connect myself to the land and the history, it was a truly amazing experience.

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Wanderlust: One word that can describe the phenomenon that guides the course of my life, and the lives that are augmented because of my existence. Since I left my home town at the age of 19 I have an insatiable itch that has consumed my soul and driven my to move nineteen times in the past eight years. Photography is an outlet to keep my experiences alive and is a huge passion of mine. Nature is my calling in photography and in life in general; the beauty, the magic of the universe, the mystery of it. My name is Marjorie Rempel. I'm a 27 year full time domestic engineer and mother of two amazing children.Taking pictures is part of living for me and to be able to take pictures to make a living would be fulfilling a long-time dream and goal. I have always wanted to get my pictures out for the world to see but have never known the means to do so. The business of photography outside of the portrait photography spectrum is a challenging industry to breech.
