My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I'm Genoveva Mendoza Quirós, a 19 year old graphic design student. Even though I decided to study graphic design and not photography, I love photography! I enjoy taking pictures and seeing other people enjoy them. I find it amazing how a photograph can make someone create a whole story in his or her head. I like to play with lights, find the perfect angle and the perfect time, and thus communicate something to the person who will view the photograph later. I'm a very curious person, always trying new things and creating things as well. I believe I am the kind of person you're looking for, because of my eagerness to learn more and more, and also because of my main objective when taking pictures of a particular place: communicate what the place is like, how I see it, and what I feel when I'm there.
I'm Peruvian, and I love my country and the variety of landscapes, food and animals it has. In this journal, I present to you some photographs I took in Azpitia, a little town of my city, Lima, in Perú. This town is far away from modern civilization, and some "wealthy" people from the big city (Lima) are able to buy some lands there and have nice country houses, away from the noise and stress of the city. Azpitia is a very calm place, where one can rest, relax, and enjoy nature. That is what I wanted to capture and to communicate to anyone who sees these pictures. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!
