Thinking of America

In some respects this trip to OZ has been a real eye opener. It reminds us of America with much less people. The West is absolutely amazing, miles and miles of unexplored beauty.

Wish it was as well connected as America, but I think that is an economic issue, there simply arent as many people here.

Greyhound is the only carrier that connects all the dots, which is great, but in a way is monopolistic. Though their KM Pass is economical, I'm sure their Express Fares will b expensive. But imagine a trip from Perth to Darwin on a coach - 56 hours. Have to admit, without the hop on hop off option it would have been tiring.

But we travelled as we wished and the daily service will pick us from where it dropped us and we were on our way.

I have a renewed respect for Greyhound now. At least they are helping people see the real country.

Brisbane to Byron

Another great ride, the scenery is unbelievable. We were again using our KM pass to travel so it was very economical.

Altough we were travelling with another couple who told us about the Mates Rates - something to check out. The partner travels at 1/2 price. I think Greyhound id running the offer till June end. check it out at greyhound.com.au.

Anyways at Byron we were immideately home, perfect place to crash for a week. We are planning a trip this weekend to NIMBIN, the Herbs capital of Australia.

It sall good.

Up North like never before

Undeniably the most interesting part of Australia - though this whole country is bloody great.

When you travel from Brisbane North to Cairns, it just gets better and better.

We took the couch, though you can fly too, and miss all the best bits!!! Greyhound has a perfect pass that allows you to Hop on and Hop off and simply use the kilometers as you go.

It was great - Noosa was a paradise but the greatest place was Airlie Beach, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef - We were there for almost a month, exploring in all directions, working and just having a great time.
