Photos: My Scholarship entry - found in India

Photography has always been a secret passion of mine. I made super-8 films and took lots of photos growing up. But on a recent trip to India it became something more. The people, places, sights, sounds & colours were so much more than I'd ever experienced, I just had to capture it all through my lens. In India I found a new way of seeing. And now I can't think of doing anything else.

Because each phone is also a camera, everyone thinks they're a photographer these days. But how many people actually see? That's my goal in photography. To find a way to capture a moment so that others can be inspired by it. To find the joy, the beauty, the joke, the pain, the truth... the story.

I work hard and I love a challenge. Being chucked in the deep end excites me. The chance to be mentored by Jason Edwards is simply awesome. The way he looks at things is magic. There's so much I want to learn from him - and on assignment in the Amazon - how could I not leap at that chance!

I've got my 7D in my backpack. I'm ready. My eyes (and aperture) are wide open!
