Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I love travelling to areas largely untouched by modern living and where local traditions prevail and natural beauty is unblemished.

I have always viewed life as if through a lens. However I became serious about photography when I got my first digital camera in 2008 and have progressed to manual settings about which I realise I have much to learn.

Whereas before my approach to taking photos was casual I now am more proactive. What I want are images that can tell a story and are enduring.

My ambition is to be able to take photos with all the necessary technical knowledge deeply ingrained in my mind and not acting as a distraction. I find that many images come to me when all extraneous matters are exorcised from the mind.

I so much enjoy these "purple" periods but in order to achieve them I must master the necessary expertise so that it is subconsciously at my disposal. That is my goal!
