A 'place' I have visited

I am a graphic designer by trade but my heart lies in photography, namely photojournalism. Instead of reading about design I find myself scorning the many photography websites and blogs I follow and spending my money buying photography books and magazines. Everywhere I look I see a potential photograph. I am constantly cropping, tweaking, editing and aligning with my eye. I love photography for its purity. It can teach us so much about the world around us and a truly great image can resonate with a person for a very long time. In many ways I feel photography and the creation of images is an integral part of being human. It connects us to places and people that we would otherwise have no access to. When I am shooting in a new place I try and capture something hidden and unseen in the people as they move through the space they live in. I love the power of photography to dismantle the raging generalisations that exist and teach us to be more open minded and a little kinder. I am hopeful that I can begin to make photography more a part of my life and give back to it some of the beauty that it has given me.
