Cuba's Rhythm

I have always been an avid traveller and I constantly I have a camera on hand to document and attempt to capture moments that represent the places, cultures and people I meet. During my travels last year I realised that ‘attempting’ to take images that accurately captured a true representation of the places I explored wasn’t good enough, I wanted to be able to take these images. I aspire to capture what can be seen at the time of exposure, rather than adjusting and editing an image using post processing software. I am a willing learner and learn best when I see others work and then practice what I’ve learnt in a meaningful context.

I believe through this travel photography scholarship I will learn a great deal in capturing images in the field that will allow me to document a true representation of what I see. If given this opportunity I am certain my ability to tell a story through my images will improve, which is a vital skill of photography that I am still developing. I want to inspire those who see my photographs to travel and experience places for themselves. I want to tell stories with my images and help others develop a sense of wonder of the world around them.
