Josh and I have both grown up near the coastline of New Zealand, we surf, dive, fish and are both adventurous people and also seasoned travellers. Although we come from different professional backgrounds we both have a love for photography and filming. Over the past couple of years we have been working on improving our film making capabilities and learning as much as possible. We are mainly self-taught apart from on-line courses that we take but to take our film making to the next level wish to spend quality one on one time with a professional in a professional environment. We believe 110% that we have what it takes to become great film makers and we have learnt a huge amount through the process of making our video entry. We have identified our strengths and weaknesses, and look forward to working on those areas that we feel we need to improve on. We are both committed to becoming travel filmmakers and I have a budding passion for presenting. To win the scholarship for us means being given the opportunity to grow personally and professionally and form a solid foundation from which to progress to the next stage in our development. We will make great World Nomads ambassadors.

A 'place' I have visited

I aim to turn my dreams into reality. The medium of photography is a language that has spoken to me and through me since a young age. It is my goal to let develop my ability as a photographer to the level where people are as inspired my work as I have been by the photographers I have followed over the years.

I feel I am only scratching the surface of what I can achieve and whether or not I am selected for this opportunity I will continue to commit myself to realising this goal I have set myself. As a surfer and environmental activist, I am critically aware of the importance that documentation of the natural environment plays in inspiring others to take an interest in the world around them and the need to preserve it for future generations. A keen eye can speak volumes in regards to cultural, social and environmental issues.

Visual story telling is an art that can have an effect on people for generations to come and can link the past, present and future in unforeseen ways.

As I only heard about this competition a couple of weeks ago I had very little time to take pictures of the calibre I wanted. I did the best I could with the time I had. Thats all anyone can really do.
