Photos: Amazonas...The Lowland Jungle!

As a kid, I was enchanted with photography; being able to interpret the world & how I see it through the lens. The world is so diverse that it brings me a refreshed perception of happiness & amazement. Educating myself through the school of travel, the images I capture allow me to disclose the hidden treasures that inhabit our earth. In the 1/8 of a sec it takes the shutter to click, the feeling of euphoria overwhelms my creative senses & the storyteller inside me comes alive.
Coming from a Jewish Middle Eastern family, I was expected to see the world a certain way. Thinking outside the box was so extreme in my community. It led me to spend the greater part of my life driving in one direction, when I really wanted to go in the other. So last year I packed my bag and headed to Latin America for what I knew was the beginning of a renewed life. I began as a volunteer and soon recognized that the person I had evolved into begun to see and process things differently. Each shot brought new realizations and made me feel alive again. Listening, documenting, sharing…this is who I am.
I have always dreamed about being a photo journalist & working for publications like National Geo to spread world awareness. I never thought an opportunity like this was possible & when I heard about it I knew this was my chance for guidance and direction, my chance to tell the story of the world we live in, where it comes from & to be a positive influence on where it is going.

Sincerely,
Chantal Levy

My Scholarship entry - My Kind of Adventure

When I was 4 my mom chose to dress me up like a European porcelain doll & capture the moment. More entertained w/the actual camera than flashing my pearly whites,I asked for my own. That lens transformed into my looking glass & curiosity took me from hobby to study to the flicker in my eyes being my private shutter. My infatuation w/photography was soon accompanied w/my enchantment of filmmaking. Camera in hand, the explorer, gypsy & humanitarian in me flourished. I have always dreamed of working for companies like Nat Geo & Travel channel & even opening an orphanage. Dipping my hands in travel photography, documentary filmmaking, production & volunteering (some w/IVHQ) have left me extremely fortunate. However, none of it has let me showcase my capabilities to uncover the nestled parts of the world waiting to be captured. All this need to observe the unfamiliar..costs a lot of $! I created my video based on my philosophy that $ should not inhibit the spirit of traveling. I've never had anything handed to me on a silver platter but sometimes that symbolic door just won't open because the key is no where to be found. I'm hoping this opportunity allows me to unlock my own door ;-)
