Photos: Kashmir

My interest in photography stemmed from watching nature documentaries. I am an avid nature-lover, and have tried to travel the world to see unique animals and unique places. But, since I started travelling seriously, I have been amazed by the life-stories of the people I meet. I love landscape photography to establish a location, but I feel that a good portrait can tell the story of a person's life in a single instant. Everyone loves a good image of a tiger or a beautiful sunset. But images of people force us to make a connection to another human being, even if they are on the other side of the world. I feel that meeting eyes with another person, even in a photograph can give one a powerful insight into a different way of life.

My drive to become a better photographer comes from wanting to give due justice to the locations in my landscapes and to the life my subjects have lived: their hardships, triumphs, losses, and failures. I want to be able to become a better story-teller through my photography, and better capture the true essence of the places I experience. I want my images to not just show people that I meet, but to better show the lives they live.
