Since picking up photography iv learned to look at the world around me and notice the people in it. As a person it has made me so much more open and I now absorb every experience. I try so hard to keep in the positive frame of mind and photography has been my rock. In this complicated world we live in everything can be so technical and sometimes we choose to life live in auto. I compare this to photography, in the sense that learning how to use my camera properly has been a journey, I no longer shoot in automatic and this was a choice I made. We have the choice to live life how we want, but sometimes staying in auto is easier. At the end of the day we still get the same shot, but its how we choose to take it. When I started photography, I didn't choose auto, I choose to learn. Its from this learning of photography that has thought me to travel. Traveling has opened a door inside of me that I never want to close, I will always try and find a new adventure or a new journey and this is what has brought me here. Photography has taught me to be aware of my surroundings and admire the beauty it holds. A lot of this beauty is the people who have taken ownership of the surroundings in which they inhabit. When I take pictures, the technical side of photography has acted as my rock. I see everything but I try not to look. I want to mindfully observe, it allows me to stay grounded and keeps me focused as I merge into the scene. This allows me to have the camera at the ready and my mind wide open for any given situation. When I photograph people, I tend to imagine if they, were me! I look at them as if I know them and I try to connect, sometimes I want their permission for the shot Iv just taken or am about to take. Photography is an art form which sometimes needs no words, my journey in discovering this art has thought me to express myself in many ways, allowing me to thrive in locations where language is a barrier.
