Doha, Qatar

Doha smells very nice. i took a 20 minute bus ride from the airport and spent a few hours at the Souq Waqif, a recommendation from airport staff. It was a plaza full of stuff to buy, birds, puppies and kittens in cages(to buy), restaurants, hookah bars, and live music. it was pretty crowded, especially for a Thursday night, but definitely not overwhelming. I bought a small genie lamp from India(haha) and a fake yellow Casio watch because my phone keeps changing time automatically and I never know how much seep I am supposed to have had.

the bus driver was from Sri Lanka and said Qatar is a small place with too much money. he moved there 2 years ago bc employment opportunities were better and he was easily able to pay an agent for a 2 year work visa. I like doha, it feels safe and culturally rich and I would like to come back.
