My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

This photos were taken in my trips to Sardinal, Guanacaste with "kioskos Ambientales" organization. With them I experienced the harsh life of the comunities who have to fight against turistic mega proyects which harms their way of life and ecology. While there are hotels and resorts with 24/7 water for their golf courts, pools, jacuzzis, these comunities do not have water for days in the driest zone of Costa Rica. Taken in first months of this current year Camera model PETAX K20D Lens: 28-200 I am student of Comunication at the University of Costa Rica, I do not have formal studies in fotography but I try learn in every oportunity. Right now I'm starting my stuidies in Geography at the same university Every time I leave home with my camera, I leave it all to my senses... It is then when I noticed things that i haven't seen before, i look for stories in every detail. my aim is, to make people feel through the camara, pphotography is the most personal way of expresion I have... is showing the rest of the world what's going on through my eyes....

Sometimes, there are experiences and folks which change your way to get involved with life. For me, it was my social comunity service at my University, which change it.

Visiting comunities all around Costa Rica, which have serious enviromental problems (many of them forgotten by the government) and live with them their fears and dreams gave the idea to take my friend's camera, and with Kioscos Ambientales Student organization (in which I work), travel almost to the nicaraguan border and ask the people there what they really think about the Gold mine.

I got many challenges... especially the fact that I was camera girl, fotographer, director, interviewer, editor... and also have to cope with permissions... at the end all went well

As a documentary maker, I have the need to tell stories, real ones, I want to make people think about their actitudes and actions. I want to give a voice to those who society have silenced....
