My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

These photographs document a small island in the Bay of Fundy, belonging to New Brunswick, called Grand Manan.

I've spent a lot of time there, exploring the beaches, cliffs and forested areas. I like to capture the serene and magical moments I've experienced there, from being visited by surprise beach kitties to the foggiest of mornings.

I adore wildlife and the environment, and hope to further develop my knowledge and experience in order to better my abilities as a photographer and journalist.

I am interested in many facets of travel photography, but mostly I love sharing strange, rare or interesting places with people that may never have the opportunity to see them. Being able to recreate experiences through a photograph by capturing the light and shadow, and emphasizing the ambiance with depth of field and composition is something that brings me great satisfaction, and something I endlessly plan to learn about.
