I have two passions travel and art - these are the only times when Im totally absorbed and inspired . I currently practice “mezzotinting” printmaking it was used in the 17th century it was the forerunner to photography -when photography was invented it died –it is like developing a black and white photograph by hand you literally feel like you are becoming light . I feel like an artist with a photographers lens inside me see : www.cleosart.com . Im intensely sensitive to light and exquisite tonal subtleties .My interest in photography is growing and growing when I take photos -it is the purest form of expressing my passion for light and form.
Travel is my other obsession interacting with different and new people and cultures makes the distance you travel inside as great as the distance you have travelled on the outside .I would like people who see my photos to feel this .To be emotionally connected and affected by the photograph . I believe this scholarship will give me that rare once in a lifetime opportunity to learn everything I can from a true master of the travel photography craft.
