shop shop shop shop

Today we went to Chatachak market. It has over 11,000 stalls. I think we missed a couple thousand. Thank goodness it's a weekend market or Lynn would want to go back tomorrow to catch those we missed.

We rode the sky train there which is such a fantastick mode of transportation. Bangkok is HUGE and the market is on the other side of town. It takes almost an hour to get there. We had a great time shopping and people watching.

Got home and ate at the Pizza Corner. Nothing is ever what you expect. Pizza over here apparently means warm bread with something on it. We aren't starving to death, but I don't think I've actually been full since we got here (not that I can't stand to shed a few pounds)

Tomorrow we are getting up early and taking a boat up river to the zoo. It's really cool and has tons of animals that are so different.

Love and miss you all! llc&l

Koh Tao to Bangkok

Well our last day at Koh Tao was rain rain more rain. We hadn't planned to snorkel so it didn't really mess us up. The ferry left on time and we made it to the train station just as planned. It had been a really long day by the time we got on the train around 10 and we were beat and went right to sleep.

Woke up in Bangkok! Checked in to Centre Point Silom. We've stayed here twice before so it felt really nice and familiar. Spent the day bumming around and sight seeing. Tonight we ate dinner at Jameson's Pub and the only thing really good about it was the name. We were thinking we might find a long lost cousin, but it was only named after the booze.

Tomorrow morning we are getting up and taking the skytrain across Bangkok to the weekend market. Chatachak. It has around 11,000 stalls! Love and miss you guys! llc&l

rain rain rain

Koh Tao - it rained all night..and this morning for a while but it looks like it is clearing now. We leave here at 2:30 today Friday March 25. Take the ferry to the mainland and catch the train around 10 this evening. Snug up in our first class car and sleep till we get to bangkok. I think that's about 7 in the morning. Haul our junk to our hotel and leave it, then i think we are going to go to the zoo.

Did see that there was an earthquake last night up near burma which is a long way from us. Had no idea it had happened till I got a text from Donna!

We will not have email till we get checked in to the Centre Point Silom in Bangkok, tomorrow afternoon. Text is amazing to have, wish i had a phone with a keyboard~

love you all! be careful! take care of each other! llc&l

Upgrade!

Hi everyone! This morning we packed up all of our stuff and then spent the rest of the morning snorkeling. We found some beautiful shells! Then we ate lunch and moved to our new digs. Quite the upgrade!!! Feeling pretty darned pampered and like a spoiled girl. We have clean sheets! The other place never actually cleaned the room the whole time we were there and it had gotten pretty darned stinky.

Montra Resort...........this place is nice! Beautiful pool, huge clean room with two big double beds. Nice tv. I would seriously like to hear someone speaking english though! We just got back from town which is really only a block away. I bought a new bag to take to the market. We ate dinner. Fried Cashew Chicken. It would have been really good if we could have only eaten it. My throat is still burning and i'm still hungry. So hungry i'm thinking about spam and I can't remember the last time i ate spam! ick! but i am reallll hungry..........i think i've lost a couple of pounds on this trip.

Enjoyed getting email from Don. Would really like to get email from someone else.....hint hint Mom! Hey Keith, how did Chase's doc visit go?? Hope he gets a great report!

Let's see, it's Wed night here, so I'm betting Don and dad are at Pappas eating a lot of food. oh crap that reminds me that I'm hungry!

Internet here seems to be working much better than the other place! yeah! Love you all.....

llc&l

Holy cow I think I'm connect to the internet

on off on off on off. that's the way the power is here. and then it goes on off off off off............grrrrr

ok, i knew i was an internet addict, but wow. it has totally bugged me to not be able to send email!!! I think I'm connected now.....but it could stop at any second. Probably right before I click 'send'.

We are at the Coral View Resort in Koh Tao. It is so beautiful here. Our room is just a few steps from the ocean. All steps here are uphill! At least that's the way it seems. It's like a major decision to decide to go to the restaurant. Those are the steepest weirdest stairs ever.

The snorkeling is fantastic. Schools of parrot fish. A very cool looking ray, lots of anenomes and fish that don't look like the ones in the caribbean :) LOTS of fish! And some very cool shells.

We are both doing great and having a blast. Tomorrow we move to the other side of the island to the Montra Resort. We've gotten the little day/date glitch straightened out so we know when we have to leave to get the ferry to catch the train back to Bangkok in a couple of days. They don't do clocks here haha.......I love that!

We miss you guys! Be safe! Don't do anything stupid! We aren't :) llc & L

What day is it???

Well we've had an eventful day. Or is it two??? It is soooo confusing with the time differance. The train ride was an experiance. Our car was tiny, private and beat he heck out of sleeping in the overhead bin like we had done before.. I think we both got more sleep on the train than we had anywhere :)

Around 4:30 we arrived at Chumpon, which is where you get on the bus that takes you to the ferry. BUT the company that we had booked with didn't have a ferry. There had been bad weather (that's their story) and their ferry was still in Koh Tao. We would need to spend the night in Chumpon and take the ferry the next day...........or we could try to get tickets with the other company who actually had a ferry. We got the last two seats on the bus and ferry! There was a lot of people that didn't make it. I felt so bad for them. Chumpon isn't anywhere I would chose to spend the night. So the bus ride was short and we were on the 'fast ferry' and got to Koh Tao this morning.

The weather was perfect and there was a guy with a sign saying Coral View which is where we were staying. His sign had a list of people he was looking for, kinda like at the airport when someone meets you. We thought it was weird that our name wasn't on his sign. Hmmmm, did I mention the whole time/what the heck day is it thing is really confusing? We were a day early hahahahaha. That's why our name wasn't on his list. Luckily they had a room so it was all ok :)

Our room is nice and the view is fantastic. We've already been in snorkeling. Visibility not the best because of the storm a couple days ago, but there were tons of fish, sea cucumbers and christmas tree worms and stuff. Right now we are resting up so we can go forage for food. The restaurant here looks really good. Everyone would love it here, but no one I know would love the getting here part.

We are both feeling good and having fun...........but miss you all! Be careful! Take care of each other! We are :)

llc&l

A Pleasant Stroll

We've had a fantastic day! Somewhere on the internet someone had posted "Here's a Pleasant Stroll", so we took it. It was perfect! Started out at a beautiful park. Rommaneerart Park. People were doing tai chi, some ladies were doing some kind of routine with fans, guys were working out at the outdoor gym, and people were strolling and jogging and enjoying the beautiful morning. Then we walked along the klong for a long way. It was very interesting and off the beaten path. At the end we went through the Saranrom Royal garden and into Wat Pho. That's where the reclining buddha is. Also we had a thai massage there! It was weirdly wonderful. Headed back to our hotel getting misplaced a few times along the way. Bought socks and purses. Ate a late lunch on our balcony and now Lynn is snoozing. Later we are going to go to dinner at Hong Kong noodle and check out the coffin shop along the way. really :)

We miss everyone but wow, who does this???? WE DO!! llc&l

"AMAZE"ing Chinatown

Hello from the Grand China Princess Bangkok!

Had a great uneventful long trip getting here. Totally worth it! Bangkok is amazing and weirdly different. We spent yesterday bumming around Chinatown (and lost in the maze more than once) and buying little cheap things. Haven't done too great in the food department (I'm not eating that squid and sea cucumbber!!) but you know Lynn and I are not going to starve to death. Besides I think half of her suitcase is stuffed with food items haha..........

Today we are doing a walking tour around Chinatown and going to Leng Noi Ye Temple. Don't know what the rest of the day will bring :))

The weather was kinda yucky yesterday. Chilly, cloudy and a little drizzly. It's supposed to be better today but as long as the sun is shining when we get to the beach in a few days that's all that matters.

Our hotel room is really nice. The first one they put us in not so nice, so we spent one night and then got them to move us. Twice as big, huge balcony, view of the river, same price.

We are heading out to get breakfast now. Huge great buffet included in the room price. Hopefully tonight I'll have time to tell you about 'BOING........BOING........BOING; Funniest story ever.

We love and miss you all! Cindy and Lynn

I'm ready to go!

I'm always ready to go. Somewhere! So March 15 Lynn and I are leaving for our third trip to Thailand. I can't wait! It's going to be great. We have plans. Of course! Spending the first few nights in the heart of Chinatown in Bangkok. Then taking the night train to Chumpon, getting on a bus and then a ferry to Koh Tao for some awesome snorkeling. One week in paradise. Then back to Bangkok. Staying at Centre Point Silom there.......because we are spoiled girls. Lots of things to see! Especially Chatachak market. Probably spelled that wrong. Fun.....weirdness........happiness :))
