My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

I'm from Australia and I study architecture at the University of Sydney. This course introduced me to the world of B&W photography and since my first photography class I have grown to love seeing the world through a camera lens. I believe that each and every exposure is taken with an intent from the photographer which is translated, sometimes quite ambiguously, through the final print.

My sequence is a set of 5 prints that tells a story about my dad's garden. It is a place which is home to me on a very personal level. It offers me and my family a place to go for peace of mind and contemplation. For almost 20 years, I have seen this garden breathe, blossom and decay through the changing seasons. I see so much beauty in its natural overgrown state, and have tried to capture the ephemeral and tranquil qualities of this garden that I have come to love.
