istanbul hotel booking

final piece of booking activity complete....do I have time to get into sultanahmet and get an "authentic" turkish experience, or bugger it and just go to an airport hotel. I chose the bugger it option, especially as I see the BBC news carries news of modest unrest in town, as protesters get ancy about turning a park into a parking lot, or something, about which Joni Mitchell sang all those years ago. anyway, I booked the gonad hotel I think; good write ups on tripadvisor, but of course I used good old aussie Wotif to book; about A$200 for one night.

early prep

So the crew (Chris, Greg and me) met skipper Rob at the Peppermill Cafe in Milsons Point, and he gave us lots of advice, including to obtain insurance which covered moped/scooters, and offshore sailing; so lets hope these worldnomads guys are ok (promoted by rough guides)

BTW, if Rob's the Skipper, Greg would be the Professor, Chris is definitely Thurston Howell III, and I guess that makes me Gilligan? There are no Gingers, MaryAnnes or Mrs Howells coming along.
