The first time I saw New York I was amazed. No, I was not excited from the first moment I entered famous city line. Not because something shocked or disappointed me, just because life is not a movie and frozen pictures illustrated on postcards cant contain the spirit, the dynamics – anything that makes city truly special. Marketing, embodied in movies, makes Big Apple desirable, but still limits perception.



However, I could boast of having couple of days to uncover the veil covering locals’ life, though I could not take off the feeling that I can’t resist sights’ allure. It was my first trip to America! It is also worth to be mentioned that adventures had happened even on my way to well-known buildings and places. To take food with me instead of staying in the restaurant was as rash as to jump into the see in clothes in my childhood. You can’t take pictures, carry bag (even a small one) and eat at the same time, can you?



The next obstacle on the way of a lady (especially for her heeled shoes) in central New York is the grate on Times Square. Although it can be a good cause to stop and become a part of action, there is almost always action on Times Square. Action and motion, motion, motion! I discovered later that it is calm in there at 4 a.m. I expected round-the-clock movement, but all people need a sleep, even new-yorkers.



As concerns locals. There are no locals in classical idea. The only common feature all these people have is that they can speak to strangers easily and for me It’s one of the best things in NY. Though I met a person who didn’t reacted on my request in Brooklyn, but its rather the exception than the rule. In addition, It is likely to find a person speaking on any language on earth and find food of any kind for sure.



This city resembles plasticine transforming every day or even every hour. Such a contrast to another well-known city - Chicago. I like both these cities, but recollection of my friends and me walking on Brooklyn Bridge at night of course belongs to New York as well as attending musical in polo and sandals alone (I am still ashamed of that). NY is made for exciting, unforgettable journey in a good company or a search for a good company.



Everyone will find here a treasure but It will take time and effort. So it is better to hurry up and explore the city!
