My Scholarship entry - Experiencing Fremont Street

In my senior year of high school, I decided to take a photography elective, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. After the first month, I knew it was what I wanted to do with my life. Having no conception of what I wanted to do professionally, let alone major in for college, I was hesitant to cast my fate to freelance photography. I felt deep down that there could be more to the beautiful field of visual storytelling. It was then that I discovered the field of cinematography, and knew that it was my life path.
I am currently a film student at University of Las Vegas Nevada, and have immensely enjoyed what I have learned about it so far. I love to observe how small camera angle changes and lighting techniques can drastically alter a scene a show the story through visual means. It is thought provoking and exhilarating to begin to read between the lines of a script and present the mood, theme, and moral of the piece through photographic methods. I hope to use my passion for photography and cinematography for travel documentaries and even film dramas. Essentially, my dream is to capture different place's meaning and message through film and photography.
