Crowds and Trains

You have probably heard something about how crowded India can be and also about its fabled railroads.

India's population of 1.17 billion people represents one-sixth of the world's population. Occupying 2.4% of the world's land area, it supports over 17.5% of the world's population. Currently the second most populous country in the world, India is expected to surpass China by the year 2030. India increases its population by almost the total population of Australia every year.

Indian Railways has one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world, transporting over 18 million passengers and more than 2 million tonnes of freight daily. It is the world's largest commercial employer, with more than 1.4 million employees. The railways traverse the length and breadth of the country, covering 6,909 stations over a total route length of more than 63,327 kilometres (39,350 mi).

Leaving Soon

At home in California, Fall is coming on and my garden's flowers are fading into Autumn hues.

With the approach of Winter they'll soon be brown and I'll soon be in India.
