Tango in La Rogais begins

La Rogaia we discover, is at or near the top of some large hills. At least a 30 minute drive from any real town. Our tango adventure here began on a rainy cool day in October. We find our shared apartment to be rustic and no so cosy until we start a fire in the kitchen place, open a bottle of wine and rearrange the furniture in front of the fire. We meet our apartment mates from Switzerland and head down below to the first floor and a long table set for a traditional Italian dinner for 14 plus one baby, Franchescia. Pasta, bread, salad, main dish, desert, wine, and after dinner liquor while we all try to figure out which language(s) to use. Folks from Germany, France, Rome. Instructors Luis Daniella tell stories of their travelin adventures so far this trip. Lost luggage, missed train stops. I think our trip has gone very smoothl compared to them. Dancing starts at 9:30 in the coat dining room with tile floor and music from Luis.

In the county

we did a whirlwind day in Venice starting with a water taxi ride to our Secret Tour of the Doge Palace. A unique tour for sure especially seeing all the Medieval arm our and the "chastity belt". Jumped on a water boat to Murano for a lunch. Quick tour of some glass galleries with amazing Murano glass before jumping another Vapporetto to Burano island known for amazing lace making. Lucky we had no time to show, because i could have done serious credit card damage. Boat back to Venice and spent an hour lost trying to find our wine tour group. getting lost in Venice is supposed to be the thing to do, but we were on alight schedule, so not as much fun as it should have been. Find the Urban Adventures tour just in time. Join 10 other tourists for a trip around some very historic wine bars. End sup being a great tour with some so so wine except for one dry bubbly red. Very unique and very tasty. Robozo. Catch a late Vapporetto back to hotel Continental. Looked around for Dave's favorite canalon, but settled for terramasu on the patio overlooking the grand canal at night.

Touring around Hyde Park

we get a fun hour tour of the Vanderbilt mansion on the Hudson. The hired Edison to put in the electric lights! Then on to the Culinary Institute of America. A beautiful campus. We had wild mushroom soup at their Apple Cafe and checked out their new Egg cafe. Right on the Hudson River and really pretty day. The fish sculpture is made of knives, forks and spoons.

Train tickets Is not that easy

oh my gosh. getting our train tickets has taken an hour plus. The train travel will be faster. Trainitalia has a time limit on purchasing tickets which turns it into a game of speed typing. Plus Chase denys our purchase which sends us back to GO several times. We finally get something. Not sure what the seats will be.
