A chance to dream
A place I have visited
AUSTRALIA | SUNDAY, 16 NOVEMBER 2014 | VIEWS [6]

A journey begins with a single step, and this is the single step I want to follow. As a biological science student, I wanted to know how the world worked, and what made it so beautiful. The journey now as a photographer, lets me capture this wonder, from nature to my own backyard, and they say a picture is worth a thousand words to which I try to encapsulate every time. To me, I don't want to say on why I should win but more let my pictures do all the talking for me, and show others what I have, and can accomplish in time. To me this journey I want to take I want to fill it with images and show nature at its most beautiful, rugged and extreme all at once, and fill it with the accompanying words to make it all the more beautiful. Photography has become an obsession of mine, and I fill that void by taking lots of pictures of the beautiful earth that surrounds me, from the big to the small and everything in between, and showing it to the world for others to enjoy. The world is a wonderful vibrant place, and to explore with a master would be something that dreams are made of, this world is full of wonder, lets fill it with more wonder.

Photos: Tasmania, a world heritage place

Since my childhood days I have had a fascination for nature and wildlife. Since obtaining my first DSLR it has made me more absorbed in wanting to encapsulate what I see in front of me.
I am a self taught photographer, and each time I go to a new scene, or even the zoo, it is a learning experience, and I like to capture behaviour and emotions.
Now that I have finished my zoology degree, my love for wildlife and nature is shown even more in my work. My style of photography is based on simplicity. Whether it be an animal or a landscape I like to show a raw and emotional connection behind it.
After a recent trip to Tasmania, and Cradle Mountain; a world heritage place, I came away with learning to capture the beauty of the essence of cradle mountain, and its surrounds. A beautiful place to visit!
If ever If I am given a chance to work with National Geographic, and a world renowned photographer it would be the perfect way to cap off my academic and self study, and open up a world where I can continue to learn about my two strongest passions. I would be honoured, and relish the opportunity. This would be an incredible learning experience, to understand more what it takes to become a photographer. it would enable me to love my career, and love the rest of what that satisfaction and contentment would bring to the rest of my life.

Photos: My Scholarship entry - Walking dream

Since childhood, I have had an appreciation for nature. On getting my first camera; my Fuji, my appreciation for nature and wildlife was given an outlet in the form of my camera. Getting my first Canon dslr, has made me more absorbed in capturing nature and wildlife. My passion for photography has intensified. I study zoology, and a love for wildlife and nature is shown in my work. My style of photography is based on simplicity, and I try to encompass not only what the scene is portraying, but also an emotional connection behind it. I am a self taught photographer, and each time I go to a new scene, or the zoo, which is my favourite place to photograph animals in captivity, is a learning experience, and I like to capture their behaviour and emotions. I believe I should be chosen, as I have much to learn, and to be able to travel and photograph my experiences would be a dream come true. Given a chance to work with National Geographic, and a world renowned photographer would be a highlight of my life, and I would relish this opportunity. This would be an incredible learning experience, to understand more what it takes to become a photographer. This opportunity I would give 100%.
