hampi

being in hampi felt so different to anywhere we have been so far. the land was covered in gigantic boulders that looked like they had been put there by someone but actually it was all natural. every direction you look is just rock. orange/peach rock. we spent a day loking around the temple ruins however i was more fascinated by the monkeys. there was not alot to do apart from look around templesbut we found a really nice restaurant and sat there for hours. x

south

For me, the north of Goa feels like another country compared with where we are in the south, however that could just be because we're staying on one of the most well-known beaches in Goa. to be fair, the beach really is beautiful and it's easy to see the attraction. however, because it's now the tourist season there isn't an inch of the beach that isn't taken up by a bar or restaurant, which all pretty much offer the same thing. there's a huge amount of tourists, not just travellers stopping off, but also families on holiday. compared with the north it feels very... temporary as obviously, people are just here for a short stay compared with anjuna where, i think, a lot of uh, party addicts found it hard to leave! it's interesting though, every conversation you here between people is about travelling, around india and the rest of the world. are next stop id hampi and from there, not sure yet, we may go somewhere else outside of goa and then up to delhi, we haven't decided.

one thing i dislike about india very much is that it seems to have the most uncomfortable beds i've ever felt in my whole life, which makes sleep difficult.

one thing i like, having breakfast on the beach, watching the dolphins in the distance :).

Anjuna.

we are in north goa and and there are alot of beaches and every road has a market and every man asks if you need a taxi or a motorbike and every child runs up to you pointing to their mouths and asking if yuo want to swap your jewellery for something. we made friends with this indian family who are in the photos. today was the world famous anjuna flee market which was exactly the same as all the others but we stilll managed to buy something. they are showing devil wears prada in our hostel tonight so we will watch it. we are finding it hard to sleep. tomorrow we are heading south and then maybe to hampi to see the temples and monkeys. then delhi which we are dreading.

xxxx

mumbai to goa

Our flight to Mumbai was rather long, sitting next to a boy visiting his family than insisted on talking the whole way.

As soon as we arrived we went straight outside, you could practically see the heat. we got into the taxi which took us to colaba, the roads have no rules and the cars constantly weave inbetween eachother almost crashing. driving past the slums was horrible.mumai was packed and humid with people absolutely everywhere.

we got a 13 hour train the next morning to anjuna in north Goa which is where we are at the moment. It's hotter here and the earth bright red, the people are nicer but people are constantly trying to sell you everything. last night we went to a night market which was amazing a mixture of india and a festival. we saw two elephants today but our excitement was laughed at. our hotel is lovely but too expensive so we're moving on tomorrow, hopefully not too far as there is much more to explore here.
