Hi, my name is Beatrice. I was born in Rome, Italy, and after having lived in different places around Europe though out the years, I have landed in St Andrews, Scotland, where I am in my 3rd year of study in Philosophy. I started taking pictures when I finally became aware of how lucky I was to be able to simply see so many different places and things, something that I realised not many people my age could have the privilege to.
My photographs in this entry are about the Scottish Highlands: it is a magical place, misty, quiet and with a particular fairytale atmosphere. And it is atmosphere that I mostly wish to capture in my photographs. It started as a way of telling my friends and family about countries that they couldn't experience themselves at home, to try and describe them the places that I had seen, not only in geographical coordinates, but also the life, the people, the story behind it.
As I have never been outside of Europe, this scholarship would be an amazing opportunity for me to challenge myself to try and capture an atmosphere which I have never had the chance to experience before, and which I might never have the chance to otherwise.
